Phobia has the reputation for having a truly sketchy band member who allegedly has a history of beating women which while I can't confirm is a truly shitty thing, but also wow, people, Phobia in 2017?

Y'all need to up your grind game

I don't want to act like some elite keyboard warrior here - but do a little reading into Phobia and make your own call. I do not have any intention of supporting a band with such a shitty rep - and yeah Means of Existence was a hot fuckin' spicy platter when it came out but aside from their shitty rep everything I have heard since then has been progressively shittier. That being said, here are a few great ACTIVE bands that grind the system to it's knees....

DEATH TOLL 80K
IRON LUNG
COUPLE SKATE
GOWL
RAW NOISE APES
CSMD
DECHE-CHARGE
SISSY SPACEK
ERECTILE DEMENTIA
SEDEM MINUT STRACHU
SETE STAR SEPT
REEKING CROSS
FULL OF HELL (okay whatever they did a split with Nails :grumpy: but they're great)
KNELT ROTE (maybe "active" is a stretch")

Thank you, Sir! This had nothing to do with PHOBIA. I asked for a list of grind bands you like and you provided it! Thank you!
I do listen (or have listened) to most of those groups but, there are a couple I never heard of so I will check out!

SISSY SPACEK is legitimately one of my favorite bands.

SAME. Saw them a few years ago and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I am a fanatic for filling in the gaps in my collection.

Been meaning to check this out. Oscillateur got me into her. Her sounds are a little more than this but I have wanted to dub some music as 'Pedal-Core' or 'Pedal-gaze'. This is not meant to be a disparaging comment but there are some musicians where the use of pedals is intrinsic to the sounds (using and thinking about pedals as compositional tools instead of just sound shapers).

'Nu-Gaze' has me thinking of Nu-Metal meets Shoegaze. Hmmm.

This one actually seems less pedal-y, there are a few different instruments but I get where you are coming from for sure. Jean Baudin is another one where he is essentially playing one (enormous) instrument through another (enormous) instrument.

There is so much potential in pedals now that it does seem kind of ludicrous to not compose based on what you have available at your feet but I suppose it is a niche thing compared to that whole "jamming blues rock through a Klone into a Dumble and everything else is bullshit soundscaping" paradigm that apparently most musicians on the internet go in for.
