Yeesh $400 might be a little too steep for me. Like, dipswitches are lovely and all but god damn.

Yeah, it's tough. That puts it solidly in the range of a do everything digital delay+looper. You can still get a lot of that whole show functionality out of the midi, but a lot of guitar players still aren't well versed in or open to that. I'm curious how it sounds. I still have no doubt this thing will fly off the shelves though.

Wonder if this leaves an opening for a standalone ModuShape controller?

It's important to note that the Modushape and the ramping are different things. You can still make this thing modulate the delay time and so on. Modushape was just the adjusting of the waveform used for the shape of the modulation.

If you're looking for a customizable wave with CV out in a pedal. Check out the Lightning Wave pedal by Lightning Bear in the shark tank

Exactly. Which is the frosting on the cake of the CB pedals. Would be nice to have that ability added (via an external control module) to this - or any other pedal with CV/EXP or even MIDI.
And yeah, I'm aware of the Lightning Wave. It's awesome!

First non modushape pedal, and crazy expensive. It's got them lovely dip switches though. I'm still excited to hear it and hopefully afford it for my birthday present to myself.
I might be misunderstanding, no it doesn't have the modushape name on there, but all the controls seem to be on the pedal?

Probably mistaken, but I thought Modushape was where the magic happened? Excited to find out what all the wee bits sound like, even without the magic buttons.

It lacks the saw waves, the shark wave from the modushape wouldn't make a difference on a delay. He also removed the shift. It's just a multiwave mod control.
Considering the Bellwether and other delays of the types, you're paying for realstate. This is not counting sound of course. I trust Joel will deliver some beautiful noises here.

The modushape was a way to shape the LFO of the modulation.
Inconuucl wrote:He also removed the shift.
The shift was part of the modushape
Say if I wanted a tremolo that would Attack very sharply, but then have a nice natural slow decay. I would st the modushape to have a square wave on the left, and a sine wave on the right and shift the waveform to be more prominently a sine wave. So the result would be a tremolo that looks like this.
Now how about if I wanted that tremolo to have a slow even rise and then a fast smooth drop. I'd set the left to a triangle wave, and the right to sign and then use the shift to weight it to the triangle so the swelling is the larger part of the waveform.
The ramping is a sine wave with a controllable rate that can take whatever knobs you choose, and ride the knob up and down, depending on what direction you set it, to where you set it. Almost like a team of automated expression pedals. A built in modular rig.
Both are pretty cool features. Hard to say what the magic is between the features and Joel's usual good dialing in of the tone.
Here's Joel's description of the modushape:
