i seriously dont know what the hell they're doing lately, they seem to be all over the map. HUGE misses and sometimes real hits too (albeit sometimes poorly executed). At times they were just too slow and someone beat them to the punch.

hits? EHX hazarai when it came out was fucking awesome, it still is. now imagine an updated version of that, they could've done it years ago, it'd be like a CT5 on steroids for fucks sake.

they had the freeze which was a great idea but not executed maybe all the way, and then AT LAST the bigger pulsar that should've come out like 5 years ago to have a say about anything.

they're ruining themselves so bad. they should just drop 90% of their ideas, have 2-3 versions of a big muff, have the "big ones" and maybe smaller versions of each (not even all of them) of whatever modulation pedals they want to produce and then KEEP PURSUING NEW IDEAS. NEW IDEAS =! COMBINING TWO OLD IDEAS

i mean look at this:

http://www.ehx.com/products

now compare that to what is a company i already think have too many products; EQD

http://earthquakerdevices.com/shop/Products/

EQD is a company i personally consider AWESOME but they honestly have too much stuff. but if you look at each individual product you can see there's an idea to why it exists and why they think it needs to exist. It still feels kind of "bloated" though, and going into it thinking "i want a fuzz, eqd seem awesome" and then you cant decide at all and it feels like they dont know either. i mean, they've got 4 DIFFERENT pitch shifting pedals, and they're all cool and stuff, but it feels like they could have.. 2? most companies dont even have ONE pitch shifting pedal. Going to another company we all know and love like

DR SCI - is more like feeling that you're looking for the best distortion pedal and he's like "i've got one, it's the best so i didn't make 500 others slightly different". Not at all the same kind of "bloat". Check this shit out:

http://www.tonefactor.com/dr-scientist- ... s/1867.htm (add the cosmichorus to that last as well)

take a few pedals, do them as well as you can.

Now go back to EHX and it's like "metal big muff" "soul muff" "big soul" "soul metal" "nano soul" "pog clone" "neo big" etc etc.
They should just ditch most of it. They're diluting their own brand so incredibly much that once people get into pedals they decide between distortions and fuzzes, let's say they land on getting a big muff, let's say they even land on getting a big muff pedal made by EHX today - they would have 10000 choices left!

I r mad about it because they could really do something awesome, they had a headstart on most of these companies that are popping up lately, a HUGE headstart, and they fucked it all up. I'm not saying it's easy to develop a pedal such as chase bliss does or montreal assembly, but they had the opportunity to do so and seemed to me to be okay sitting there jerking off to the next "holy big neo clone soul pog metal deluxe stereo muff".

RANT.
agree with everything here. good rant IMO.

The responses on their facebook page about the Soul POG are hilarious:
I LOVE EHX company, the only company that seems to be pushing the boundaries for awesome and weird but cool effects and going outside the box, where most pedal companies keep releasing the same thing over and over.

As meh as I am about signature products, an updated reissue of the Mark IIC+ is droolworthy.

I'm still scared of tube amps though.

Oh, just old bias from when I was much younger and having to deal with hot tubes or fire hazards scared the fuck out of me. Also because I've never owned one and the only ones I've played through were in Guitar Centers.

Ah ok.
Arcing tubes are a little scary but it's more the sinking feeling of a repair bill and a new set of power tubes.

Buy the Mesa and never worry about a reputable tech unless something more major than the tubes takes a dive. No biasing required. Just drop in a new set whenever you feel so inclined.

1) I don't necessarily have a problem with that...

2) In point of fact, they were a plug-in company before hardware, so they have a huge DSP base from which to pull for their Euro (and now pedal) endeavours....

Of which only two interest me, three counting the tentacle. :idk:

However, the Stone Deaf Tremotron is looking more and more like something that will dethrone the Gravitas for me, depends on the chop it has. And both the kliptonite and the Warp Drive interest me greatly.

Teenage Engineering has teased something. Internet says that it's new pocket operators called Arcade, Robot, + Office. The first 3 were labeled PO 12, PO 14, Po16, so that might make sense that they'd expand. I'd hope they were a little more substantial rather than just new sounds.
