Yeah apparently running a 12ax7 valve at lower voltage gets shitty results. I built a Valvecaster with a 12au7 valve and run it at 12 volts and it sounds good. And it's a simpler build than the Persuader with a much lower parts count. Also a shit load cheaper. I don't know, there's a lot of good efforts out there, but it seems to me there's still an awful lot of noncompliance.

That's what they always said about that "tube" thing that happened 10 years ago. They wern't really doing anything running at such low voltage other than looking cool.
