As an addendum for my anti-elitism...the week of Christmas I re-watched the original SCARY MOVIE and could not stop laughing so factor that in when you read my movie opinions
EDIT: What do Darren Aronofsky and SCARY MOVIE have in common you ask? Both came out in 2000 and both had prominent roles from Marlon Wayans. Two drastically different roles showing tremendous range. Take that Daniel Day Lewis.

Yeah, regarding Arnofsky, I personally don't care for his work but I wouldn't dub it as shitty. You can tell he's a very smart guy, I just find his movies a little self-indulgent. He gets great performances out of actors, I just don't think he's the strongest writer. REQUIEM FOR A DREAM would be the pre-req movie out of his oeuvre for people getting into 'indie' cinema or "disturbing movies"
Nah I got the joke. I literally meant I'm terrible at seeing prereq movies. Most of the "classics" (unless you count horror)? Yeah, no interest. But maybe I'm just a shitty movie noob
I've seen a few of Aronofsky's films.. Pi was just tough to watch. I guess one of my criteria for "shitty movie" is "I can't stand to finish it".
Any fans of Feast? Or Black Sheep?

Pi blew my mind, requiem blew my mind, the fountain blew my mind... I just like his movies. The fountain is probably my favorite.

Can you please send me a recap of WTF actually happened in that movie? I've watched it a few times and I think I was entirely too sober to grasp it.
In a poor attempt to stay on topic....
Is return of the killer tomatoes shitty enough to be shitty, or just shitty enough to be bad?

Lol I'm not trying to call you out! Was just curious on where RotKT landed on the scale in the OP. I usually won't go back on harp on something unless I'm feeling particularly winged that day....
Editor's Note: If I change my kid's name to Bristol, can I add "up the front and back, who cares about consistency at this point" to the chart?

There's a bootleg directors commentary he made himself in his basement because the studio wouldn't let him make one... I have my own take on it.. But there is definitely 3 separate time lines that coexist and the fountain of youth/tree of life... totally awesome.
Shit movie enjoyed recently .. Van Dammage .. Cyborg. So good

The fountain is really good. I can't watch it anymore because the idea of my spouse dying from a terminal illness makes me weep uncontrollably but I used to like it a lot.
Right now: drinking tequila and watching FULL MOON OF THE VIRGINS. Italian vampire sleaze from 1973 on prime. Nice atmosphere so far.

My best friend just texted me. It read:
"21st Century Cinema Canon:
-MULHOLLAND DR.
-WERCKMEISTER HARMONIES
-SILENT LIGHT
-MIAMI VICE
-BEN & ARTHUR"
For those of you who don't know BEN & ARTHUR...welcome to meta-verse. This is the greatest movie ever made...

I'm divorced but my ex-wife got cancer right after our son was born. So that movie certainly has a unique connection for me.
