I too am happy with all my gear.

Still get the odd bout of gas though, and that includes Boss pedals. I don't really know why having a Boss board is more transcendental than having any other brand. Fine, you can buy it off the shelf but whatever. If it's gasworthy it's gasworthy.

Current Boss GAS: DM-2W. Boss BD-2 (I can never justify purchasing it, especially as my OD situation is sorted, but I've always liked that pedal). Whenever I see a BF-2 I always want to buy it and a splitter thing and run it in parallel with my other BF-2, but one with lots of resonance and one with less resonance, and two slightly different rates. I want to pick up a cheap DS-1 again and mod it..

If you want an OD then Boss/Digitech/MXR whoever have lots of good choices that are going to sound good. For more standard sounds I see no reason to gas less for major players than small manufacturers (on a purely sonic basis). If a glitchy OD is the sound you've always had in your head then you can't look at those companies and you have to buy a Fuck or an ID, or DN or whatever.

However the final sound is only one factor that determines my gas. Visuals, controls, customer service, relationship to a builder... they are also powerful non-sonic factors in my gas situation. Which gets back to Phanta's post about inspiration...

You really don't want a driving license, hubby.

I'm really getting interested in modular stuff. And it worries me that I might be the dude with a wall in his living room full of modules. I'm thinking maybe getting a single case and forcing myself to stick to it.

Anyway, I won't have the money for it in years... So got some time to think about it.

Yeah, but if I pray to the penis lord everyday, maybe I can work against my true nature.

Oh, yeah, I do.

I think I'll sell my RS Guitarworks this summer. I love it, but it's too heavy for my lanky body and it should be enough to get me started. I've got 1,500€ (that I've promised myself not to spend on gear) and need another 1,500€. Driving a car in Norway is one of the most expensive things I know of next to buying a house.

If that prayer is what it should be you could make good money and make the modular wall happen!

Not in the floating Yogi kind of way. But transcendental in the 'fuck your frowns, gear snobs' kinda way.

IMO it's the uniformity of the standardized footprint & layout (2, 3 or 4 recessed knobs with side jacks & top power) but most of the magic is in the footswitch action.
There's just some (very) satisfying intangibles, in the range of motion and how the metal hinge clicks against the chassis. Some sound better than others; the best example I had was a PS-3 :idk:

I want one of those Multi Overtone pedals. Most Boss GAS I've had in a while.

Lately I've been thinking of getting a DD-7 but that external tap switch is grotesquely huge.

Anyone have any experience with an Ibanez Echo Shifter? Been looking at downgrading my delay to something simpler but I still want tap tempo. This seems to be a good contender, especially since I can find one used for around $125.

I played one on my bass at a store and was just not into it. Thing would self-oscillate out of control at the lowest feedback settings. I'm all into making walls of noise, but I couldn't get the feedback knob above 10 or 11 o'clock without it just fucking taking off.

Yeah I definitely get where you're coming from here. I get super jelly of people that make 'shit' gear sound good when all I can muster is mediocrity out of the finest lettuce.

Hmm. Time to do some research. I know there's an oscillation switch that makes it blast off. Maybe you had it flipped?

LG: That's basically how I roll, with my "base rig" of "good quality gear" (nice Jaguar, V3 Big Muff that I've owned for 20 years, Orange OR-80) and then a handful of other pedals that I use for fiddling around / getting other sounds when recording / annoying the dog and cat... took me a while to get here, and I bought and sold more shit than I care to remember (some of which I try to not regret getting rid of grumble grumble '77 Hiwat DR-504 grumble grumble) but I am probably the happiest I have been with a "rig" since I started playing any musical instrument...

Hooray for anecdotes! :joy:

It's a possibility, but I think I remember flipping it back to off and still had the problem. This was like 7 months ago so I'd say you should still just go and try one out. :idk:

Wow that was really useless information all the way around.
