Why?

i sold mine cos:
a) didn't need the tape saturation side, it sounds great but i prefer playing fully clean or fully distorted rather than in between
b) i prefer normal flanging to the static or wobbly double tracking thing so i'm sticking to my ibanez AD190, i think most people would prefer the Deco though i'm just a flanger nerd
c) impulse bought an RE-201 and had to insta-sell something to cover it, strymon stuff is easy to sell without losing much money

it's an awesome pedal but it's a super specific thing so i found that even though i liked the sound of it a lot, it didn't suit my setup at the moment, it's something i'd consider re-buying down the road though. if you're the type of person that doesn't usually get along with modulation pedals but feels like your base tone needs a bit of depth i would highly recommend it.

selling mine cause I'm not using it as much as I planned for recordings. mostly due to things picking up at work unfortunately.. sounds fucking awesome for what it is and is pretty versatile with the studio version in mind. I really just want warble though. no flange, no delay. pure warble. if that's possible, I don't know. I don't even have anything in mind. but I'm spending more and more time with mine and I honestly wouldn't mind keeping it. money would be nice right now but I can see myself picking it back up down the road if it does sell

i want a gravitas and i can pull off some vibrato/slapback/flange stuff with other pedals. but i'm gonna miss it.

Does the Deco cover any sort of weirdness? All the prettiness is nice, but would be more likely to pull the trigger if this could cover some of the ugly oscillating madness I get from my Hoax....

It's pretty tame overall because there's no feedback/resonance but with an expression pedal or CV source you can screw with the delay time and get some weird-ass pitch instability going similar to a clari(not) or kassette etc.

Resurrecting this thread because I need some info/help from current and former Deco users. I am thinking about buying this pedal. Here's why:

My main guitar sound is sort of a fingerpicked, clunky pawn shop guitar sound and I use slapback delay 100% of the time. It's always on, even when I am using a ton of other wild effects. I use a modded Dano pb&j for this application and it sounds great, but, you know, unremarkable. It's just a really reliable delay that does a fine slap. The other thing I have on 100% of the time is a dod fx10 bifet preamp. I keep it at the end of the chain lately. I have tried to take this pedal out of my chain many times, but I just always like my tone better when it's on.

OK.

So this Deco thing seems to do the slapback thing really nicely. I like the clips quite a bit. Also, the saturation thing is really intriguing to me and i wonder if the character it adds will take care of some of what I am using the bifet for. The other thing that is EXTREMELY interesting to me is the random modulation. That's something I'd like to add to this "always on" sound that I use but have never really been able to achieve with a chorus/vibrato pedal. Those three things add up to: maybe I really want this pedal? I'm trying to streamline my rig a bit and the idea of this taking care of three pedals worth of duties makes me think I should pull the trigger. So do I want this?

Sub question: does the belle epoch take care of all of my above 3 concerns as well as the Deco? If so, maybe I'll go that route because it's cheaper and slightly less TGP than the strymon.

i mean, the tape saturation does effect the other side too so it's totally possible. i was trying to tell you that you can, just need to have it blended close to all the way wet to avoid any flanging, and set the wobble knob to taste.

i'd record you a little clip of what it sounds like but i need to leave for work in about 10 minutes.

That would be nice, thanks! Still sounds like something I could use, though. I was just hoping to get more of the tape saturation with only a little wobble here and there. But I'm sure you could get that with some fine tuning. I'm sure the Blend feature is necessary, but would be great if you could run the wobble after the tape satch without the Lag.

i started the demo with the tape saturation and wobble around 10 o clock, blended all the way wet with the lag time right at the zero through mark. gradually increased the wobble and saturation to maximum.

Also, I just want to say, this clip is fucking awesome.

based on this post alone, I think you will love the deco. I say try it out!

I wouldn't know about the belle epoch, but from what I've seen/heard it's a lot crazier than the deco. if all you're looking for is some clean slapback and warble, I don't think it gets better than the deco. the saturation can add some nice character. the polarity options and studio/stereo modes makes it top notch imo. like I said it doesn't get too crazy but it sounds amazing for what it is

btw....my bass player got a Deco a few months ago and uses it for an OD on bass...freeking awesome!

Cool, thanks. Yeah, I have other pedals for crazy, I'm kind of just looking for something to serve as a foundation and improve upon a sound I'm already going for. Too bad these are impossible to find used. $300 bucks is a lot of clams.

Anybody have direct experience with what the Deco does when you use it in stereo? I think "wide stereo" puts the left stuff exclusively out L and right stuff exclusively out R. But what if it's not in wide stereo?

I have ZERO experience with stereo pedals but am considering what some benefits are.
