Welp, I finally sold enough stuff to fund a Decolonizer so that's exciting news! It will sport a beefy 4xKT88 power section, gonna RIP! Alex is also hooking it up with a clean channel filter mod on a push/pull gain pot to give it a Fender clean voicing option in addition to the standard Plexi-voiced clean channel.

Was hoping to find some grey fawn to give it a similar but different look to my Shiv but that tolex doesn't exist sadly. Instead I found some cool Slate Grey Bronco tolex that I sent him for the front and rear panel, like a light grey base surface with dark grey pebbling details. Should look super sexy.

Would I hazard a guess that the Verellen was on the chopping block?

The Verellen is great but I want a high watter with some more options, sonically speaking. After discussing it in detail with Alex, the Decolonizer sounds exactly what I need.

My amps now days will consist of the Shiv, Decolonizer, newly refurbed Ampeg V2, and the Dunwich Metro. That should do it.

So the Dunwich is staying? Yay! I was curious about that one.

Yeah, I love that amp. Only thing I wish I would've done is gone 4xKT88 instead of a single pair but I make due.

It's just not as loud as my other amps. The V2 has been converted to 2xKT88s as well and it crushes the Metro in output. Metro has it's own sound going on though esp when cranked. It's like nothing else I own but leaves me longing for more volume sometimes with a drummer and another guitarist.

I know how you feel. Still, two KT88's is about perfect for me, or four running at 120 watts or something like that.

Yeah, the pair is great in the Ampeg cuz it puts out at least 60 VERY LOUD watts. The Metro is lucky to be pushing 50W and gets buried sometimes. Depends what context I'm using it in I suppose...

No but I recently joined a band with a kinda stoner rock vibe and we've been practicing a lot lately. Other guitarist has a 100W Plexi and a full stack plus drummer hits real hard. Metro wasn't cutting it thru my 2x12s but the V2 is all good with that band. Go figure.

Shame about the Metro, but your power scaling is a dream. You have the Shiv, the Metro, the V2, and then you'll have the Decolonizer.
