Yeah, it took me a bit to understand Serge too. Just so flexible. It is kind of intimidating but there are a lot of people on Muffs that are willing to help out.
I will definitely post some vids up in here.

The Arpanoid would be cool with your Grendal too. I used to use a PitchFactor w/my drone synth..AWESOME.

That would be pretty cool. I've always been kind of on the fence about the Arpanoid on guitar or bass but it would be pretty fun paired up with the Drone Commander

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
In case anyone is interested,
I have 8 banana-to-1/4 cords coming, they have different jacks than the Pomona Banana patch cords, these are supposed to help with the extra weight of the cord. But anyways, I can pull audio out of any of the black outputs (doesn't have to be from a VCA) and patch sound into my mixer. This really adds more to the flexibility of my little system.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
i'm new to synths (modular or otherwise). started with a doepfer dark energy 2, dark time, moogerfoogers and a minitaur and now just starting to dip my toes into full-on modular synthesis with a 6U case, largely makenoise system. right now its a rene, echophon, maths, dpo, optomix, mult, and i'm adding a harvestman hertz donut 2 and a 4ms pingable envelope generator. so that should cover VCO, VCF, LFO, ADSR, with a delay and sequencer as well. maybe eventually add more VCOs or another filter (i reli like the livewire AFG and the intellijel korgasmatron but i need to save money for a mission expressionator too, cant be neglecting the pedalboard
).
ive been lurking muffwriggler almost everyday just learning stuff, looking at pictures and generally researching on modules, functions, builders, jargon, etc. also goofing off alot on modulargrid. there's just so much information and it can be pretty overwhelming!
i've maxed out my gear budget for now and i plan to get more modules in march/april but i dont really know what i "should" get with my limited budget

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yeah, lots to learn/read going this route and even more experimenting…
I got those 1/4 to banana cables on Saturday and have proceeded to do some experimenting. I can't wait for Thursday though, Serge Creature, Misa Digital Tri-Bass (super awesome midi controller) and an Elektron Analog Four all showing up!!!!
I was going to buy some Kilpatrick format modules (One enclosure worth- meaning 4 modules) but I am actually getting most of the functionality that I wanted those for from the A4 and more, for way less $. The A4 is going to be the CV Sequencer for my Serge, I am going to feed it's oscillators to the Serge and I can output the Serge through it for Delay and Reverb…
After all of this stuff shows up on Thursday, I am done with new gear for a bit! Except for maybe a new mixing board….

OH GOD I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT. I had a POG2 that was sweet for droning, but the Arpanoid... ooooooof that'd be sweet. I never really thought much of the pedal until this very moment

Exactly what I thought! But man I never thought much about the POG2 until now either! RETHINKing all the pedals now! This is going to hurt my gas list

MMM bloops and bleeps.
Congrats on getting it early!
I think I finally found a solution to where I should start.
I might start with a Make Noise System 0 + an Intellijel uStep.
Leaves me a lot of room to expand, is moderately affordable, and can probably help me appreciate the modules more since I'd have less to work with

Thoughts?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Thanks, i am about to go mess with the Serge some more
I think that is a solid plan to get the System 0 & ustep, but I wouldn't say you have a ton of room to expand…it is funny how quick Euro can grow. The good news is that you can turn the 3u case into a controller skiff. Or you can ask MakeNoise for a 6U case, it'll cost more but that will give you some room to expand. Or you can be very cautious and really try to make yourself stick to 3U. When you get a 3U case, you suddenly realize how small 90HP is...
