which is a shame...one of my favorite FPS to come out in years and such great potential for some party time co-op action. I usually stick to private servers/games these days.
PS thanks again for the bf1942 MF links

I always found it hard to get through those games. Not particularly because of the difficulty but rather the death sequences. Watching yourself get mashed into tiny pieces of meat and gristle really gets tiring after watching the sequence for a fifth time.

yah. so far i've only had a spot or two where i've had to get crushed and repeat a few times. more annoying for me is accidentally hitting the right bumper when i'm zoomed with the plasma rifle and wasting 25 shots of LIMITED ammo, or tapping the Heal button when i only have a 1/4 of a spot of damage and wasting a medium or big health thinger.
THAT shit makes me reload and replay a section way more.

Man, do you guys have any recommendations as far as difficult-but-fun games go? The last truly hard games I played were...Way of the Samurai, Ninja Gaiden on Xbox, and God Hand. And maybe some crazy Japanese space shootin' games.
Not cheapass-hard, like how you can't change direction mid-jump in Ghouls 'n Ghosts.
I'm sick of how every game is easy mode now. Go away with your regenerating health.

My 12 year old mind was totally destroyed by this game...I would never look at mosquitoes the same way again

Hm, I'll try to keep it all relatively recent. If you like RPGs, Persona 4, which is on the lower side of hard sometimes but buckets of fun (Persona 3 was frustrating and unfair). Ninja Gaiden 2 was hard, NG3 was a joke. Catherine was frustrating to the point that I gave up, and that's something that hasn't happened to me since the 16-bit days. Donkey Kong Country Returns was as hard as the old school ones, Super Meat Boy I'm told was similar. Mega Man 9 was a Mega Man game, enough said.

Yeah Mega Man 9 was a total dream come true for me a few years back. Everything a Mega Man game should be... plus very challenging in the most entertaining way. There's a neat in-game rewards system too, where it gives you little challenges to try to beat... one of them being that you got through the game WITHOUT GETTING HIT. SAY HUH? But people have done it, somehow. Me, I just like to blast through it with energy tanks. Plus, no Mega Buster, which is sooooooo fine by me. That thing just ruins the music as you charge it up.
Mega Man 10 was also good, but 9 is MM perfection.

hurm. i liked Catherine a lot. i had to check a youtube faq on like 2 levels, but that taught me how to habdle the rest.
the Exploding Guy thing on XBL and Ms Explodo (i forget the real names) get really hectic and difficult after awhile.
anybody play Noir? halfway through it's mood changes to the detriment of the game, but it was beautiful.
oh gawd. i actually felt parts of me retract in fear at thinking about doing a MegaMan game without getting hit. EEEEEE. you're a bad, bad man CeeBah.

'Splosion Man and Ms. 'Splosion Man. Great little games.
Any one else pick up Civ 5 off that steam deal? I put it off for forever, knowing how much time I would lose in it.
It was all going so well, until Persia, Siam, America, Germany and Greece declared war on me. I just
had to conquer England... and Venice and Vienna.

So, I'm totally late to picking it up, but Super Mario 3D Land is so damn good.
It plays like Super Mario 64 did the first time I played it. Nintendo has won back my heart completely.
