Wow, fast moving thread! Didn't follow ILF during my exams and now there's this? Damn!

I don't really know much about doom or associated genre but I really like bands as Sleep, Electric Wizard, Floor, Melvins, Sunn O))), Thrones... So I'm definitely going to try and follow this thread for some new music! Also amazed by the awesome rigs in this thread!

I'll share some local awesomeness:

The second track (by Drums Are For Parades) features the saxophone player of Shining!

Thanks for coming out on Friday John and Tony! I love Louie G's. Those little kids were absolutely priceless. The look of total rapt hypnosis on their faces when Dave T started that one solo was worth a million zillion bucks.

I borrowed a Hot Rod 25 proto the other day. That overdrive is amazing. The 'clean' channel is so-so and just like it's big bro the SLO, I find it pretty poor for pedals. But that overdrive is also just like its big brother and that's amazing. Unlike the SLO I plugged a booster in up front of the drive channel and it sounded RAD! That Lafayette in the pics is the first tube amp I ever owned. Also included is a pic for the sports fans :thumb:

Also if I get a cab is an emperor worth it or should I seek out something like an old sunn? last question do any of you guys use guitars like jags or jazzy's for teh brootz?

I'd suggest avoiding Emperor unless you find a good deal second-hand. They don't seem to give a shit about the 'little guy'. I've also seen some unsolicited and rather apish posts on their Facebook page. There are a number of alternatives these days, both in the US and in the EU. Before, if you wanted a well-made cabinet that sounded big and looked different, Emperor was the only choice. Now there are, in my inexperienced opinion, better alternatives.

Cool. Moog are still making some of the best sounding and most versatile pedals around.

Was playing one of these in our space last night, one of the nicest guitars I've played although it'd be a tad bright for full on dooming. Was tuned E standard so I reckon dropping it down to C/C# would be great and much more usable. Was also very impressed with how good my bass rig sounds for guitar.

Darren I'd come to all your shows but I'd never get anything done. You guys are busy! So much fun though. That lafayette looks rad! I love weird old amps!

That's an interesting guitar ^^^ Bright might work well. I set up everything super bassy but I use a 12 which is inherently bright with the extra strings. Lets me get a very different tone and still cut through.

I was running it through my Sound City with two 15s and amp treble off, using the neck pickup and still had to roll back the tone knob a tad. Reckon it'd be a nice recording guitar for adding extra layers on top of our usual Gibson HB guitars.
