Your stuff always sounds so pretty blackened. :)

Still rocking the modded P bass Lyte. It gained a sticker and may gain another one tonight.

The Jag bass had been sitting disassembled for a while until you guys posted about it; I had started modding it again and then got distracted
I sold the Model J pickups. I just can't do Jazz bridge pickups anymore, they've had too many chances and that sound has never meshed with me. I liked that neck pickup, but it was really bassy and there's already a mudbucker in there, so I'm adding one of the pickups from the SBV-500 in the middle position. It's a little more chilled out. Also, a bass cut cap on a switch, just to see what happens. I don't see buying different pickups to try out anytime soon, my interests have kinda shifted away from guitars.
The actual SBV-500 (also sitting in pieces) will eventually be set up more like my stupid pink guitar, minus the strings and stuff snaking haphazardly throughout the body.

Your P-Lyte has low-pass filters in the controls, right? Sounds super cool, I wanna try something like that one day.

It's just a bunch of bullshit compared to the other pickups, maaaaaaaan. Middle pickups are love. I'm not stuck with a thin sound all the time, but can get close enough by playing near the bridge :idk:

Here's me butchering some Smiths.
First go around is the middle only, then both, mudbucker only, and finally mudbucker with the bass cut cap (.001uF)
It's a Black Widow 15 through an SM57, but I don't really know how to mic cabs well so it sounds kinda lifeless in comparison. I was really pleasantly surprised by how the mudbucker sounds through the cap. It's my favorite setting now. There's more low end to it than the recording suggests.
I left out the other combinations with the bass cut 'cause they're not as dramatic, but they do affect playing through dirt differently than just turning the volume knob down; it tends to be less synthy BWOOOOOOO and more articulate.

Yeah f'real that's sweet. I've only ever liked middle pickups on bass but that mudbucker with the bass cut cap really adds clarity and punch, sounds super good.

Guhhh I really want to somehow turn my mustang bass into a bass V or bass VI. I love the thing to death but i just don't play bass often cos i don't like the string spacing. It would probably be way too much for me to do myself though.

God I love that bass achtane. Sounds killer.

^ If you're happy with the scale length then you'd probably be vaguely ok just sticking the appropriate bridge on, which might require drilling a few holes, and replacing the nut. Shouldn't be the world's hardest job to make something serviceable. Given how reasonably priced the squier vis are though I'd just pick up one of those (shill shill shill they're awesome shill)
