We have HBOnow for a bit until True Detective season 3 ends.
Pretty good so far, except for the "Grumpy Old Men" moments.
I'm also binge-ing season 2 and like it even more than the last time.
Of course season 1 is the king.

What kind of modulated delay do you guys think seems to be used on what..
. 90% of the soundtrack?

Somehow missed this, but watched it last night and dug it. I have to admit, the first part was so slow moving and indulgent on the director's part I almost ditched it but I'm glad I didn't. If anything, it stands out as something different than the norm (especially in action films). Plus, Gosling

I need to give that one another go. I loved Drive, but I couldn't get into that one as muchadamajah wrote:

liked that a lot. and as much as i dig Gosling, he doessss pretty much do the quiet quiet quiet quiet RAAAAAGEEEE BLAGAGGEGRGRHHJHH.... quiet quiet quiet thing every. freaking. movie.
rewatched Altered Carbon, enjoyed it a LOT more the second time. even with some of it's... inconsistencies.
watching Umbrella Academy now. i know i read the first graphic novel, don't remember hardly anything from it though, which is GOOD. like it a lot so far, but only 2 episodes in.
the Dancing To Tiffany scene in the first episode was beauuuuuuuuuutifulllllllllll.

On episode 3 now, I'm still not super into it.behndy wrote:watching Umbrella Academy now. i know i read the first graphic novel, don't remember hardly anything from it though, which is GOOD. like it a lot so far, but only 2 episodes in.
Though I understand that it's, supposedly, fairly faithful to the comics, I think that simply thrusting the viewer into the show's universe without any significant explanation wasn't the best idea.

I liked Umbrella Academy so far. Generally I check out anything Gerard Way had a hand in making, so it was a given I'd be watching this. Hope the whole season ends up being solid.

Re: The Netflix/Hulu/Prime Thread
Recently virtually rented this film after discovering it via a YouTube top 10 worst movies of 2018 vid:

Pretty inconsistent pacing overall, periods of bland dialogue, and limited use of star power, but some of the physical humor bits had me laughing to the point of tears. It's kind of like a modern take on Who Framed Roger Rabbit with less depth, more vulgarity, and puppets instead of cartoon characters.

one of the things i like about adaptations is seeing what does and doesn't translate well to the Moving Image Format.

Re: The Netflix/Hulu/Prime Thread
The ending of Deadwood left me rageful, but it still proved to be an amazing series for the most part. I began watching Umbrella Academy earlier today, have zero familiarity with the source material, am impressed this far, and plan to barrel through more episodes this weekend.

Russian Doll was a fun "blast through it on Sunday morning" show. Really well paced and some excellent performancea. As good as it was (and every time I reflect on it I like it more) I hope they leave it as a single season deal.Jero wrote:watched it in one sittingbehndy wrote:i LIKED Russian Doll. stayed interesting throughout, i dig the ending, SOLID.
There is a movie being made to wrap the story up, I believe. Which could be cool but considering Deadwood was one of the greatest TV dramas of all time, it's going to have to be an excellent movie.ck3 wrote:The ending of Deadwood left me rageful, but it still proved to be an amazing series for the most part.
