Ummm the teaspoon is more closely related to the Hexe Revolver I think than the judder although all three are similar in certain ways. The revolver takes the sample/hold function of the teaspoon and expands the flexibility/manipulation by adding reverse etc. I've never played with the mini judder but the two versions of the judder I have offer just incredibly unique and various ways to manipulate the sampled loops whereas I think the mini judder is more of a simple tremolo type effect like the raptio. The raptio is pretty great at what it does but I wouldn't put it in the same class as the judder/teaspoon/revolver etc. I've got all three of those boss delays and they sure are fun but the level of control over the manipulation available by these other sample/hold pedals is unique to them. These pedal could all probably be lumped together as a class of sample/hold effects, but they all offer different means of manipulation and definitely lead me down different corridors to original ideas. I just can't get enough of this good stuff :lol:

Another thing to note are the chip types and the sounds that they have inherent to them...

Possessed = Spin FV1
Judders = PT2399
Raptio = Spin FV1?
Boss DDs = Different chips (I think there are even two different chips in the DD3)
Boss DSD-2 = (can get like these in a different method) ...Has a even different chip from the later boss DDs (Same as DD-2 and maybe early DD-3s?)
Super Flutter v.2 is some kind of DSP I think...(maybe Spin, but i dunno)
Teaspoon = Sounded like somekind of PIC programming or something (or DSP)

So some are programmed to do this stuff (Raptio, Possessed, CT5, Super Flutter), some do this on the hardware side (Boss...by design I think...they wanted a hold mode and made the chips able to hold a sample), and some found a "bend" on a popular chip (Judder...so it is at the mercy of someone else's design).

The Judder does decay, which I think is the result of it's hardware (at least mine does) ... but it is controllable by modulation which is awesome.

Sounds like the Hexe Revolver uses something like a PIC and maybe some CMOS stuff...but I don't know...Either way, it seems like it gets updates and changes which is awesome.

Each one of these different pedals has limitations because of their chosen path...so they come out quite different and unique sound qualities.

The thing is that people kind of say that they are all one trick pedals (not calling anyone out, just something I have heard)...but the way that I use them is different from UG and Eivind, it is pretty neat...they really open up different doors....and make other effects do different things and explore new sounds...

That is partially what is so awesome about UG's thread, or Eivind's or UC's or whoever...it is like looking into sketchbooks, less so than a buying guide...it's really fun seeing how everybody uses pedals that are "one-trick" in different ways with different sounds...because of what we like and how we play.

Wow Ive never actually read somebody with that point of view. I would never consider these one trick pedals like say, a fuzz haha. There is so much more I can do with these pedals than any pedal that I would set and forget. These designs just BEG to be treated like hands on instruments and for me anyways that is where there strengths lie. But even if i didn't want to be hands on, say the judder, and only used the stomps/expression pedal there is still a incredably diverse world of sounds and textures that are possible even without twiddling knobs. I mean it's possible to get completely different results by just stomping while strumming a single note depending on where in the notes creation you stomp. It's almost impossible to not get unpredictable and random results even using it in a limited capacity like this, or haha maybe that is how its intended to be used?? Thats the beauty and allure for me, there really is no right or wrong way to use these pedals...i mean you can say the same thing about any type pedal but youre not going to get such disparate results like you will with one of these. Just takes a little imagination and some experimentation and in that context these pedals have more potential than any other pedal I'm familiar with. For me anyways these pedals are so far removed from one trick that I kinda gotta laugh and shake my head in wonder :idk: Of course, it's also possible to lock down my technique and get predictable results too and that's important when I'm recording etc.

I was totally gutted with the Judder decay. I was like "this is definitely broke" :lol:
I was initially hoping it would be super, super, never-ending digital sounding, but I have still grown to love it. :thumb:

Yea, it is really a different take on them...more layering and blending...I like it. Wasn't expecting what it was either haha.

Re: UG demos Seppuku FX Memory Loss

Hey hey, here is a listen to how the gain? Knob on the Seppuku FX Memory Loss affects the signal getting all fuzzy and glitchy, sort of an envelope opening the glitch depending on playing dynamics.

Haha! It without a doubt sounds different. I would go as far as to say that it sounds like a different delay all together. I can film a clip or two of mine with some more tweaking as well. :thumb:

That version sounds way different from the newer ones. I have one that is closer to UG's too (but still different).
