Pfft. She won't decrease military spending one bit. If anything, she'll double down on it and spend more.

Democrats carry the stigma of being anti-defense or whatever, but that's hardly been true for Obama at all. He's happily increased the amount of conflicts we're in, and kept us in the ones from the last administration. For all of the right wingnut propaganda about how he wants to roll over and play dead, the truth is our military empire has spread under Obama and he hasn't showing any lack of restraint when it comes to drone-bombing brown people the world over.

The current Democratic Party is every bit as capitalistic and militaristic as Regan's GOP. The meme says they're all dirty peacenik Commies, but the truth is they're basically a moderate conservative policy once espoused by Republicans.

On the other hand, the loudmouths have taken over the GOP, and the GOP in order to stay relevant has consistently pushed itself further and furhter right.

There is no more "left wing" in American popular politics, especially now that Bernie Sanders has been stomped out of primaries and finally conceded after helping to draft the next platform. What little change he's made will be whitewashed out soon enough.

Exactly. The only way the country has moved to the left is socially and heaven forbid we should treat minorities equally!

Otherwise, we've made people like Eisenhower look like a commie by our current standards.

Progress in the Department of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board has been bending things back in the right direction. Not back to FDR yet. I'm really hoping Tom Perez gets the VP pick to further continue the effort at a higher profile. Certainly hasn't reflected poorly on Obama. :idk:

I might actually vote this year. Haven't bothered voting for a president since Leonard Peltier ran in 'O4. Maybe Stein. Maybe write in "Buzz Fucking Osborne". I dunno.

If you don't want to vote, pick a valid 3rd party canidate on your ballot who most closely aligns with your views. They won't win, but if they get enough votes they can successfully garner the same Federal funding that the big two get for their next election run. That will help the dynamic next election cycle.

Voting 3rd party also points out that people find their agendas more inline with their own, and has the potential to force (or at least guide) the hand of the major parties as they reevaluate platform planks and focus groups.

To be honest making decisions about my own life fills me with existential dread, choosing a "political platform" just seems absurd. Like, I don't know what a good course of action is for a whole nation. Don't ask me, I just work here. I'm usually registered Peace and Freedom Party cause look at this logo:

Fuck yeah.
They have three candidates this year but none of them get me stoked.
