Nobody could accuse DHG of being conservative. Not that you were on that album but 666 International was a very important release for me, also bringing me back to my previous question of why the fuck everyone thinks black metal has to only sound like darkthrone.....Does no-one remember the early 2000s? Deafhaven are just low hanging fruit.

A few things.

There is no *objectivity* in art appreciation. There is even debate on what is art.
That said
If *you* have to (ineffectively) argue why everyone else is a wrong idiot, it suggests everyone else isn't at fault.

The word "faggot" was ruined by the obvious association given through abuse by lazy suckers using it to express bigotry. But no other word properly conveys the kind of whiny kid who reminds your teacher to collect the meaningless homework assignment you didn't complete, after the dismissal bell rings.

In essence, that's what happening here. "If you only completed your homework on deafhaven you'd see they are actually a great band (like I do) and have no reason for wrong think!"

So, Deafhaven fans are the new Tool fans?

FWIW i think blackened death is better than black or death. Abyssal, Obliteration, Antediluvian. That shit's all the fucking best.

I like this thread because I've been dismissing a lot of cool black metal bands and this is helping reconnect with that side of me.

There's the whole first album. I bought it on Cassette along with this album and they came with a hemp noose. The Impetuous Ritual cassette's B-side is just the full album played in reverse.
