Re: Listening to musicians you love talk about music
Agreed 100%. He's talking about things the way I was trying to in my whole "music outside of the 90's sucks" thread from a year or two ago. No one seemed to get what I was saying but it's probably because I couldn't articulate it. I have felt this way for a long fucking time. There is nothing progressive about new music these days. It's all the same hog wash bullshit.Mudfuzz wrote:I don't love the guy or even like the music he produces but... dude is spot on.

Except for metal. There's still a lot of good metal.

Elvis was a younger, whiter Arthur Crudup who moved his hips around a lot.

I had never heard of Arthur Crudup. That's some fucked up shit right there. Of course a white guy steals his shit. Sigh.Chankgeez wrote:Jimi crossing color barriers?

You just aren't looking at things through a pop culture big picture perspective... Or from the perspective of a Canadian...Chankgeez wrote:Jimi crossing color barriers?

And while on a musical/musician perspective I would agree with you but that is more nerd stuff than the overall way things are seen, or sold..

Maybe not, but that guy's perspective also contains bias. I don't agree with a number of things he said (even the ones I am looking at from a pop culture big picture standpoint.)Mudfuzz wrote: You just aren't looking at thing through a pop culture big picture perspective.

In the studio with Nils Frahm
"For his new album All Melody, Nils Frahm transformed Saal 3 at the former East German broadcast centre Funkhaus in Berlin into an analogue recording studio to match the scope of his ideas. We visited Frahm in the studio to find out about the making of the album and how this unique space has helped shape his sound."

This isn't really in depth, you cannot listen to, and it is a bit short, but man, Ripley Johnson slays, so I'll just post it:

Re: Listening to musicians you love talk about music
this thread is rad. digging way in.
hearing Nels Cline talk about "Marquee Moon" and how he still gets such a kick out of it rules.
