Pretty curious about this too? Also, I grew up very baptist as well and how you came out of that as anything other than put off and terrified by religion I have no fucking clue, but to each their own and such.

I blame some bad early decisions on the fact that I thought the world was going to end at any minute when Jesus returned. That's some traumatic shit to lay on a kid.

I agree with that, it is beyond pretty heavy, it's incredibly heavy. It's heavier than Electric Wizard heavy. But I always understood from day one that it was all man, not God. I had my own relationship with God. The church just scared me, and then I'd go home and pray about it.
If it hadn't been for Satan, I'd've never gotten into doom.
One good thing about the church, silver lining, is that it did convince me that evil is real and real presence in the world. Moral ambiguity of the modern strain, maybe moral ambivalence, has no place in my life. There is real evil in the world and I might not have known that outside the church.

Love and magical beauty come naturally to me; I need to be reminded that it's not all kittens and rainbows.
Quickest route to both in my experience: become a foster parent.
