There's a dude in Gear Talk: Classifieds (on FB) that's trying to resell one of these that he just got for $100.
The best part is that the first comment was "from the $40 sale right?"

At least I won't be that guy, unless the going rate comes back up. lol

Has anyone managed to dial in the HM2 "chainsaw" EQ curve with one of these? I came close once, but neglected to record my settings.

Really loving the hell out of this thing. Super versatile and easy to mix into a track. Well done DOD/BATW.

I'm honestly probably going to give/loan this to the bassist I'm playing with. I love this pedal to bits but the poor guy has no decent bass dirt. I want him to be excited about his tone too. Wishing I had bought a second one right now. I'll be on the lookout for a $40 flip.

I dunno if I've gotten that particular sound out of it, but I've gotten extreme EQ settings that were so wonderfully harsh and grating that I almost forgot I wasn't using the normal gain control to do it.

That was another thing I like about it, I could place myself pretty much anywhere in a live mix with another guitar and an overbearing bass. Only problem was that sound wasn't "The Tone" when my guitar was by itself. Maybe now that our other guitarist is probably gonna be pulling drum duties it won't really matter how I set it. :poke:

For $40 this feels like the poor man's The Elements. I feel like they have a very similar function: ultra tweakable eq to sit well in any setup.

Just plugged mine in and I like it a bit a more than the Elements I had tbh. I could never decide on a setting with the Elements myself. It definitely has that same level of EQ flexibility but the texture/clipping of the Boneshaker is more raw, like an Orange amp, while the Elements was smoother and more compressed. Could just be the way I used the Elements back when I had one though, probably a bit of overlap somewhere.

I am super into the boneshaker. I also picked up a used DOD Gunslinger a month or so ago and I am also very happy with it.

My only thing is the Depth knob doesn't seem to do anything in my rig. The three band EQ more than makes up for it, but I don't hear any difference when I turn the depth knob up or down.

Having never actually played the elements in person, that sounds about right; at least from what I've heard in demos. More compressed, smoother, less flexible eq, but plenty of other cool features.

I was actually trying to figure out what the depth knob did, and was unsure. I ran white noise through the pedal and could clearly measure the boosts, cuts, and frequency ranges, but I could not for the life of me figure out the depth knob. Maybe it does something to low end dynamics? Didn't test if it affected like low end compression or something.

The depth knob controls the low end gain, but it's gonna be very subtle.
Baritones noted a mod for the 250/D+ that's similar, here.
Baritones/Darrell wrote:R2/C3 form a filter that works with the gain pot. You’ll notice as you turn the gain up you get less and less bass response. Increasing C3 while decreasing R2 proportionately will simply increase gain. Increasing C3 alone will give you more bass at high gain but risk muddy low gain. Reducing just R2 will increase gain and give you more bass roll off. I recommend .1 to .47uf for C3 and a slight decrease in R2. These are definitely worth socketing because they are highly interactive with eachother and the gain pot.
With that EQ, it's very unlikely you'll really notice a difference, honestly.
It almost seems like it was added in for kicks. :idk:

Pulled from the DOD site...

Tips & Tricks
Each EQ stage can be overdriven. If you dial in a frequency and then dime the level, that frequency will distort. You can then use the early travel of the Gain control to fine tune the overall distortion.

The Depth knob controls the amount of low-frequency information that is allowed into the circuit - So it acts as a "tight" control. As you turn the knob clockwise, it reduces the amount of lows. This helps to reduce "flabbiness" that can occur with distorted low frequencies, especially on an already overdriven channel.

Still havent gotten mine. I understand the situation and why it isnt here but at this point, ive ordered a guitar thats going to arrive before the boneshaker does, so most likely im just going to cancel my order.

Sucks.

I still prefer the clipping options/nature of The Elements. The way it clips allows for greater definition than the Boneshaker and that works better for what I do. But the Boneshaker's EQ really is a lot more flexible.

The range and depth of each eq control is wide enough that it goes outside the useability range. There isn't a setting on The Elements where I'd plug in and think the tone was awful, but those areas definitely exist on the Boneshaker. I feel like that is a really cool thing. The low goes well below the frequencies that make a difference for anything I play, and the midrange frequency range is NUTS. I just wish the high end went higher, but it already goes much higher than anything else I've used (outside of the yr4545).

So, I'm a big fan of both. I'm definitely going to keep the Elements on my pedalboard, but I am very happy pairing this with my Dwarfcraft ILFSS fuzz for synth stuff.

+1. I find that with my bass, I actually find it has the most low-end with the low freq knob almost fully clockwise. If I turn it down counterclockwise I seem to lose bass, which seems counterintuitive. I'm liking the Boneshaker, although I don't think it's the best thing since sliced bread. Decidedly average was my initial impression and that still stands.
