Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates in here! The Heisenberg is actually really close to being ready for production!
Here's some full size pics of the collage up above and thanks for posting that in here, Chris, much appreciated.
Ok, so this the final prototype pcb, I think this is going to be the production version except it'll be in red and white, and that's barring any changes that Dr. Adam might like, he's doing a final revision on it right now.
Here's what the box will be like, the 3 knobs on the left side of the pedal are the gain knob for each gain stage. On the right it goes volume, treble, and then the rotary switch to change the gain stages is at the bottom.
The trimpots on the pcb are for setting the gain range of each gain stage, not so much a bias control. I set it up so the FET stage is a dirty boost, the NPN is an overdrive/fuzz, and the Op amp stage is a distortion. You can use the trimpots to change that, like make your op amp stage a clean boost and your NPN stage more fuzzy, for example, if you wanted different gain flavours out of the different gain stages.
The production box is a powder coat called Ultra Black Chrome and we're going to do a clean and simple text-based finish with big shiny metal knobs. The 3 LEDs on the front panel are green, yellow, red, for each gain stage. The back plate LED is white.
I've crunched the numbers and The Heisenberg is going to have an MSRP of $399 USD. It's gonna be available only through my dealers, no direct orders or pre-order at all, and there will only be around 125 in this first round. There'll be another round, hopefully soon, but I don't exactly know how that'll go down other than to say it will go down at some point!
The Heisenberg will be the first product available commercially that has a molecular junction inside it.. and it's got 3! *smile* For now I'm the only business that has a license to buy and sell molecular junctions but that will change soon too, I don't know exactly how soon, but other companies will be able to make molecular junction pedals in the not too distant future. Dr. Adam is in the process of setting up a company that will make and distribute molecular junctions in greater numbers soon, so there will be more variety and lower prices in the future.
My plan is to start rounding up all the parts for all the builds asap and then spend a month making them all at once and then shipping them all at once. I feel good about getting this done before the end of the year, I'd like to be making them all starting in October. I'll keep a thread going with my build progress and the shipping progress and give you guys the best shot at tracking down a Heisenberg near you!
And yes, Kevin Henretta and I both know about each other's Heisenbergs and we're both cool with it, no drama. We both like that it'll add to the 'uncertainty'! *smile*
