I must try out this muff setting when I get home. It is enticing meeeee greatly. The more time I spend with the elements the more and more I love it!

Ryan, I have been listening to Deadsy's self-titled and that shit rules! Anti-pop is so catchy yet so dirty and looooooowwwww. I tried playing along to that song with my elements and a reverb pedal with my guitar dropped to A standard. Any equalizing tips on how to get that heavy deadsy tone? I really love the industrial, poppy, yet still raw toooooaaaaannnnnzz!

I have been playing out of my stupid little solid state practice amp and I neeeeeeed my tube amp to hear the true tooaaaanz but it is all the way in philadelphia. soon enough. soon enough

That's cool, Matt! That music really speaks to me, loved it for almost 15 years now. You should check out the '99 Commencement album, that's their crowning glory in my opinion, probably my favourite album ever too.

I think there's a few key points to nailing that guy's tone... he tuned real low, A, used weird custom Les Pauls made by Manson (I think, some weird custom guitar maker), and it's a super bassy kind of tone, like all the fuzz/distortion is coming from low frequencies.

I copy that tone by scooping out all or almost all of the mids with the mids knob with the mids toggle set to middle or lower position. From there you can dial in more or less gain, crank up the bass, set the treble appropriately. That's as close as I can get.. I think it sounds really close to the tone on the songs 'The Elements' and 'Lake Waramgaug', probably my favourite guitar tones ever too.

Some iPhone footage of the gig my band, Centre of Gravity, had on Saturday night. We have three guitarists, so it's hard to tell which one the Elements is without knowing the music (given the massive audio compression of both the iPhone and YouTube), but:
The dude on the left is rocking a Peavey 6505, the dude in white is me, doing an Elements and a Lab Series L11, the bassist is DI'd and the dude on the right (in orange) is using a Blackstar and a Pisdiyauwot.

The settings on the Elements are the same as I posted earlier.

And here's the board:

We only got to play 20 minutes (3 songs for us... ) so the RRR didn't see any action :(

I gotta try the Civil War Muff setting. While I was screwing around with it last night I got pretty close to the spec of my Civil War muff:

bass boost toggle was all the way down, mids on the center position, bass EQ all the way up, mids at 10:30, highs dimed. High gain setting. Middle position with the clipping switch. Gain around 11 o'clock. Volume to taste. blend around 11 o'clock.

That's cool stuff, Greigy, you're in a wild band! Geeez that must be fun! Awesome board too... whatcha saving that extra space for?

I spose The Elements should be able to sound like an op amp Muff pretty easily... is the Civil War version an op amp one?

:thumb: Extra space is for
Cosmi
Empress phaser
Subdecay flanger DLX
Subdecay Noisebox
Maybe Randy's Revenge

Probably in that order as well. Should be done saving by 2027 ... On the other hand someone (pointing no fingers RYAN) will probably go and release something rad that screws up my whole long term plan...

I love playing out, absolutely love it! Would like to get out more, but the live scene here is a little suckified.

Nope. Civil war is a bit lower gain gritty and grindy Russian muff, op amp is a billy corgan distorto kinda NYC muff.
I still feel like I've only scratched the surface of what The Elements can do, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could get pretty close to both toanz.
I was all over the high gainers for a few weeks, and now I'm stuck on one with the gain switch down...sorry if someone has posted something similar already.

Gain at 11
Vol at 12
Mix dimed (ooh I have an ep-2, so farkin' cool to swell the gain in but dat's another thread :joy:)
Gain down
Clip up
Bass cut down
Mid freq in the mid
Bass at 130
Mids at 1230
Trebs at 2

So awesome for switching from clean to dirty parts, using a bunch of slowwwww delay and the expression pedal to bring the bite into chords, from purdy to durrty :!!!:
Special low-frequency version.
