Chances are they won't actually fight you if you act like you're game for it. In Boston everyone is a jerk and a few years back it seemed like people were picking fights with me at every other party... And none of those ever actually ended up in a fight. Not one.

It always goes like this:

[Person saying they want to fight / insults / blah blah]
You: "Ok, lets step outside though. I don't want to be a bother to anyone."
Them: "What did you say?! You want to fight me?!"
You: "Yeah, but I'd like to get back to the party pretty quick so if we could like just get to this..."
Them: "You know what? You're not worth it." [Starts to walk away, trying to act like they're still tough]
You: "Ok f#ckhead. But you let me know if you change your mind. It's fine if you need some time to work yourself up to it."

Them = Loser
You = Badass

For me it usually goes like this:

Me: Pointing out two douchey looking bros wearing pink polos and making fun of them for being such bros.
One of the bros: Notices and points to himself as if to say, "You makin' fun of me, punk?"
Me: Points to someone all the way across the room as if to say, "No that guy over there."
Bro: Turns around to look at person.
Me: Walks out of the room while his back is turned.

i've been nauseatingly nervous the last 2 days. i can't sleep. the school i'm applying to for next year sends their decisions out around this time.. i called today to ask about it and and apparently there is a hold on my account preventing me from knowing whether i got in or not (and subsequently whether i should kill myself or not) because of an updated transcript form a school i went to over a year ago.. but the thing is i haven't been to that school in over a year so there is no reason why it needs updating.. and i can only correspond about this through email (would much rather over the phone) and i was able to get a hold of seemingly every single fucking person in admissions except the one i need to talk to.

So now I'm waiting to here back from two different people to see if they'll let me into their band. I wish I was like Jesus and could just walk up to people and say, "Hey, come with me if you want to be the saviors of baroque indie dance-punk," and they'd come with me. Then I'd have a 13(including me) piece band that would rock peoples' socks more than a pebble in a shoe. We'd be called Danny Dangerous and the Dance-Floor Disciples. Fuck yeah!

Deep breaths, man. I had similar confusions involving college, and thus similar stress and thoughts. What I found out:

1) They do want to help you. People that work at colleges really do give a shit, and, eventually, will come through for you.

2) Stress helps nothing. If you don't make it into this college, so what? You can always keep at it and try again later. After a semester, that college will still be there, and will be even more likely to welcome you. Stressing out and doing something drastic will only make things much, much worse.

So, deep breaths, man. We're all here for you.
