That tuning also works for fans of Mastodon....who ripped the dropping the low string to A thing off of Neurosis.
Also, that article on the chain of death was the one I was thinking of.
Such a cool rig.
Goes to show, there is NO archetypal gear for anything or any sound.
So you mean I bought this SG for nothing? FUCK!

I know, right? I feel like I grew my beard for nothing, too.
Since having it, I don't feel ANY doomier, and I am yet to be engaged in wizard battle, or have a large breasted warrior princess throw herself at me to aid her in a quest to vanquish her kingdom of the evil Serpent Lord.
What a rip off.
You know what?
Fuck this genre, I'm gonna get a wig and some snakeskin pants and try power metal for a while.

Pissing up a wall with a homeless guy behind a venue is close to, but sadly, just short of qualifying for a wizard fight.
Wait....he may not have been homeless.....and that may have been a mirror....

it's worth noting that the jcm 800 that scott kelly uses is not a 2203, which is normally what people think of when you say jcm 800. he plays a 2210, which is the two channel version which is often less well regarded than the single channel 2203. i generally also prefer the 2203 but i do think the 2210 is a good sounding amp. it goes to show that good sound isn't just about getting the right gear, it's about how you use it.

it's been said a bunch, but a model t reissue is not a model t at all. fender just put the name on a more recent incarnation of the two channel twin with a high gain channel. totally different amp. you might like it, but don't expect a model t. that being said, you can certainly get an aor for a lot cheaper and it's certainly a better value most of the time. i'm not as crazy about the aor's as a lot of people, but they're certainly good amps.
you've mentioned model t's a bunch. it seems that if that's what you really want, you should just save up and get it. they are a lot more expensive than they used to be, but that doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't pay that. if you can afford it and really want it, why not? no shame in that. and there's just not a lot of other amps out there like them. it might be worth looking into the eagle cabs clone or the verellen clone that had some pics circulating recently. probably not much different in price and you can get something new, hand made and have the customer support of an existing small company that can help you out. and you won't have the concerns associated with 30-40 year old amps.

Thanks for the link.
Checking these guys live in a few weeks and I'm very stoked for it.
Are they playing near us, or are you road tripping for the show?
They're playing in grand rapids in the beginning of April. I think it's the 8th.

The Hex model t clone is $2,000. I emailed the guy a while back and he said that they were gonna start building a new batch in a few months. If it were me though, I'd snag an AOR. Having one in our setup now made me see how awesome these amps are, especially for the money.

i love my three month old doom beard...it has definitely given me some doom powers! the main one is when i get on a train people usually stay away from me and i get a seat!...If i carry a back pack people move out of my way...and police and security tend to be more aware of me...hmm...on reflection, maybe its doom powers...or maybe its because i look like i've just come back from an al-queda camp

You are an extremist, sir......of volume.

It is an awesome douchebag deterrent, that is for sure.
I had to go and shave right back so I look like I'm ok to be around kids for prac.
I really wish I didn't have to. My goal for year's end would be to become this guy:

Wait up....is that Vid?

As I stated a couple pages ago, for the price, the Laney AOR is going to slay. That's only if you are just looking for any loud-ass amp. If you want a Model T, save for a Model T. Or as said, a Model T clone.

this is what i started wanting my beard to look like:

before you say it...yes i follow tumblr blogs on beards...specifically beards & tattoos...its not doom at all...
