That was in regards to the Memory Loss, not a general statement. That violated PT2399 needs all the help it can get.

Sorry about the playing...I wasn't monitoring it at all...I could kind of hear the headphones but they were on the camera for syncing. It's just for comp/noise check anyway :idk:

Sounds pretty nice direct in though. There is hiss but it isn't too bad and probably less than my amp's hiss haha.

Hope that helps bud.

Kinda surprised I had no videos of it haha.

Thanks a lot for the video! :thumb: My pedal is from the same era and as it seems they have the same noise floor. It's a bit too much for my taste. The effect sound rules, though!

Hey y'all, your friendly neighbourhood broken pedal owner here.

My Kompact Kassette has decided to stop making music and is now just making a disturbing dark crackle when played. It's not a constant noise, only when signals passing through and it still kinda holds notes, so it's not totally broken, but it's not doing its thing.

Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what it could be, I can solder etc so I could fix it if I knew the problem, but wouldn't know where to start to diagnose.

Can post gutshots and maybe a video too, but yeah, all help would be super appreciated, I don't really wanna send this off to be fixed, so I'd probably sell it as broken if there's nothing I can do. Thanks in advance!

Try replacing the PT2399 chip. Sounds sort of like when the Mind Warp I had only made heavily distorted noises.

Thought that might be a possible route to take, thanks a lot!

Definitely do some recordings of it before you fix it, though.

+1 on the gutshots please :)

Also when you take the pt2399 out and replace it with another look for a small depression on the surface of the chip you are taking out at one end of it - make sure you insert the new chip with the depression facing the same way around as it is in the circuit. If it's not that, there might be a resistor coming from pin 6 of the chip and going to ground that might not be working - some nice people on DIYStompboxes are helping me debug a different pt2399 delay pedal I'm building and that is possibly causing me to have problems. Good luck!

Youp! It goes now from time to time. Usually goes back up a few days later, usually with an update :thumb:

Yeah, you're going to have to deal with that

He changes designs willy-nilly. Especially with the bends and the (often) pushed/mangled chip pedals, even pedals from the same batch can sound very different. Like, Brandsmannens horizontal ML sounds different than my horizontal ML. Albeit, not from the same batch, they are the same circuit. I don't think he plans for additions or anything, I think it's simply something that happens when he's building. "Maybe if I stick this LFO on here that would be cool?". He seems like a very spur of the moment kind of guy. #yolo

I'm not justifying the business model. Just telling you what I think and letting you know from experience that it's simply something you're going to have to get used to if you are into his builds.

You should write a book: Seppuku/audioslime for Dummies
