Oh fuck. Glaucoma is something in my future. My dad has it and it is apparently heiredary. I'm supposed to get my eyes checked every year but I dont. Think the last time was 2005. Hope your surgery goes well mate. And I think we all can be fuckwits sometimes. It comes with the territory.

I pretty much stopped posting on my old go-to forum because of that sort of mindset. Tubescreamers, marshall amps, perfect tone quests, pointy mean guitars and fear of change/a nick in the finish/bleeding pickups. Try placing a reverb early in the chain and be the laughingstock. There's no mean bashing, but you get the sense of not belonging, having shitty opinions and taste, or being an idiot. It also gets sort of repetative reading threads on KLÅNZ and what strings to get to sound like *place generic rock band here*.

There's an effects group on Facebook that I joined a while back, and its the same deal. The answer to every single "what pedal should I get" post is Lone Wolf. It makes me not want to try any of their stuff because it seems like people don't ever suggest anything else. I mean, I know we do sort of the same thing over here, cause everyone needs a Mini/Fuck or Elements. But I guess the guy from Lone Wolf is one of the main people posting over there, and its better than recommending nothing but EHX or whatever.

To me there's a difference between suggesting the same pedal relentlessly, be it a 808 or a Mini, and actually letting people know that there are other companies doing interesting takes on certain circuits (or even making original circuits) that might be more suitable to that particular person's needs. What annoys me is not that people really like, say, EHX pedals, but that they're stubborn, old fashioned and bias in their statements as to why they think other people should get that particular pedal.

I just don't understand why anyone who is into pedals wouldn't want to seek out the weirdest, most unique ones. Its willful ignorance at this point.

I look at it like this...people pick pedals to get the sounds they like. i just like really weird sounds compared to most people.

The irony, to me, is that I fucking love the Big Muff. I have two on my board RIGHT NOW, a Caprid and a Bubble Font Russian. I am building a V3 with mods, as we speak. I love the Muff. I use a 360 Nano Looper. I love Boss, too. I just hate to see people buy fucking Big Muff with Tone Wicker or TS9 right out of the gate.
