shit i forgot...i got new pickups for my Iceman...A8 in the bridge and an A2 in the neck, and both can go split coil too...they sound amazingly good. There's a guy in London that does these, he's really fuckin cool and his work is A1++...so much so that a custom builder (Feline) is starting to use his pickups in his guitars...here's a pic for your approval!

This is MY baby though. Right now she's a bit dinged up, and sitting in the garage, but she will be fully fixed this summer. It's purely cosmetic damage and I was so fucking pissed when it happened, but hey, ya drive em, you take your chances. In the mean time it's doom van or a hyundai for me

fuck man, that is a sweet ride...is that a 69 or 70?

73, and fuck man, That Ice man! I think I've said it before but it's worth saying again. the binding on that is perfect and its such a class look. I'd almost mix up some tint and yellow the pups a bit. But hey, who cares as long as it sounds good right? Glad that thing is working out for you. VERY nice guitar!

Good lawd that is swank.
Prices are out of control down here. Doesn't make any sense considering no-one can afford to rego/run/insure the bastards.
Even Ford and Holden are shutting down V8 production.
Although, cop this: we're getting a new Mustang and Camaro in a year or two. Explain that to me.
???
I opt out of the Ford vs. Holden thing and go Vals.
Not that Ford and Holden haven't both put out some nice cars along the way.
ICEMAN LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!
Looks great dude!

You guys kept out typing me.
The classic white thing the Icemen have going on is really classy, Ax, you're right.
One of the many reasons I love mine.

Damn you both have one? I should do a 12 like that. Seriously, would be a wild look. I think it would need the tuxedo treatment to keep from becoming gaudy. Either all white with black trim or all black with slightly yellowed trim like the edwards LP's have. Those have a similar look going on that I love. Aluma 12 takes priority though! getting a bit of a collection going on and I'm thinking about selling the strat one I did early on. At least making them slows me down and makes me think about what new guits will be

GAS is a bitch of a mistress.

but WTF is up with the strap button...its so unbalanced! I have to move the neck one closer to the neck joint...that is my only beef with the guitar, otherwise its a dream!
I know what you mean about maintenance costs in Australia...we are thinking when we get back we'll just get a medium size descent car, anything too flashy and you end up playing thousands a year on insurance and upkeep. Its funny though that they bringing in the foreign V8's and not making their own...i guess there's a bunch of people with money, or a lot of CC debt!...or they will run on diesel...

shit man...a 12 string Iceman would be very cool...i do like the white with black trim like they did with the IC700's...but the classic black and cream trim especially if you do like the LP custom style binding...really thick around the body and neck/headstock would be nice. Then you do gold hardware and gold speed knobs...something like this but 12 string and no pickguard or that plastic behind the tailpiece...gaudy yes...but beautiful...fuck yeah

MORE ICEPOON!
Do it Ax, DOO ITTT!
Sam: don't touch the button, just get a thick leather strap. Downside to having the world's best neck is it's top-heavy.
Yeah, cars and this country are breaking up. Its an ugly divorce, too.

I'd want to loose the abalone too, but other than that, yeah I can see what you are saying. As that is though, kind of an example of how it's easy to go to far with that shape. the shape is enough, no need to get fancy after that. So about the horn strap location. Is that a universal issue with it? where exactly would you relocate it to? does the neck want to come up? A 12 is going to be a bit heavy at the headstock anyways so it might equal out if I am understanding right.

It is a problem with the 400 as it has that massive (fuck, what's the name of that heel at the back of the neck by the headstock?)...thing, and the body is surprisingly light. Pus that horn is up that end...but nothing a thick leather strap can't fix.
Yeah, the more minimalist they are, the classier they are.
Like a samurai sword.

A Volute...i think its called...but it also has a massive headstock as well! which i love the look of.

well, given Pope's advice i might get another strap for it.
i was initially thinking of moving it closer to the neck joint. At the moment i have a standard poly strap and if i let go of the neck it dives scarily fast to the floor, the first time i froze with fear that the headstock was going to smash on the floor, but thankfully, i don't wear the guitar that low! With 12 string it would be worse.
if you are building it yourself then you have options to help the situation. I would put the neck side on the neck joint or just behind the horn (behind the pickup selector switch), and the bridge side I would put above the pointy bit not below it.

Volute it is!
Thanks mang.
Yeah, I had maaaany a close encounter.
Not a hassle with my leather strap though, and its a real comfy guitar, you don't get tired paying it for ages.

I could always add some metal to the body. the sg12 got recycled brass from old cymbals. I think that helped it reach a near 50/50 balance. Using heavier than normal woods helped too. that thing weighs almost as much a Darren's Yamaha.

Off topic: I'd love an all aluminium Iceman.
Cast as one piece.
Jizzariffic.
Keep up Vid!

i recently was looking into casting alum. On a small scale it seems very doable. not sure it would be cool for something the size of a guitar without industrial equipment. there is an area I need to anchor one of the bridge pins where the builder decided to route out a channel for wires. Makes no sense to put it there but he did. So I need to either add metal, go with what is there and hope its ok, or get rid of that whole area and anchor the bridge to wood.
I'd like to have the whole neck/nut/bridge connect to the same piece, but that may not be feasible. I'll try it that way before cutting the bridge area out though for sure.
