Is that why some builders include an external (or internal) bias knob, so they can bias the transistor to best fit the climate?

I'm an XL in European clothes, but an L in US sizes. I'm trying to lose weight. I'm 13.4 stone (190lbs) and I'd like to be 12 stone (170lbs).

yes/no to that first one. I include a bias knob on the fuzzes either way since u can vary tones but one reason is for that so yes/no.

I just dropped from ~212 to 200. Wanna go down to 180 later this year

Nice—keep it up. I lost so much confidence when I gained weight. I know I'll never be skinny again, but I could try and rock the 30's Irish boxer look, with broad shoulders and a big chest. I'm working on my diet and trying to keep fit with HIIT workouts—or High Intensity Interval Training. It's mostly just 15 minutes or so, five times a week. They're fun exercises, and you don't need a gym or two hours of your time. I sometimes use some resistance with light dumbbells, but mostly I'm using my body weight.

I think I have an allergic reaction to gluten (so says the Chinese after taking a hair sample), so I think I have to cut out bread, pasta, and many other food groups I usually consume that contain wheat. Hopefully that will stop my belly from inflating. I'm not sure I'll lose much weight from it, but we'll see. I also have an intolerance to alcohol and diary, so that means less chocolate, cereal, beer, whiskey, and a few other consumables. We'll see how it goes.

Been toying with starting on building an amp and it seems for what I need power wise around 100 would be enough but would like the extra low end of the kt 88s. Also 100 watt iron is a lot cheaper and more common than 200. Might even be able to salvage the iron somewhere.

Also for the amp nerds looks like I'm finally getting the Nolan amp in the next few days. Hopefully just needs a new power lead..

You need the right 100W setup, an OT with a 2k-2.2k primary rated for 100W in bandwidth and a PT with something like 400-0-400 secondaries @ 500mA otherwise you will not pull 100W RMS. So salvage iron may not be useful. A normal 100W PT for say an EL34 amp will not suffice.

I see so would it be worth just biting the bulled and going for 200W rather than 100W? I was hoping I could get the guts of something like an SC120 and use the partridge iron. If I did use salvaged 100W iron what kind of power would I get? I'd only ever be pushing two 15s with it at most. It's all a fairly long term plan at the moment, have enough amps just nothing with KT88s. I do have a Peavey Mace that I may be willing to salvage though..

With 2 Kt88s and the average 100W El34 PT? Probably 60-70W or so. The other thing is that the OT secondary would be around 1.7k to 2.2k. I made a small error in the first post you need something like a 4k primary on the OT or the output taps will all double if you use a 1.7k to 2.2k primary OT with just 2 Kt88s. SC120 primary is like 3 x too small since it is setup for 6 EL34s that would end up maybe tripling your secondaries. Something that kind of sucks to be honest.

Getting new 200W iron is not awful. I get custom stuff from Heyboer for 350 for a set of DR201 iron (PT and OT) but I should ask are you in US cuz if not that thats not something u can get easily. If you are in UK then get in touch with Ian at DCC. He is getting some custom iron out of Italy for his builds and probably can let u know how to score good stuff.

Cheers I'm in Ireland so Italy may be the best bet, read somewhere about custom iron from Italy recently, must have been Ian. Didn't know he was doing amps now too. Doubling impedance will screw me for bass use. Guess I'll start saving for some custom wound then. DR201 is what's inspiring me as I'll never afford to but one.

I'm from Letterkenny but live in Dublin and too lazy too quote both of you it seems..

DR201 has the kind of power supply you need 2. 650V plates, 430V screens. Thats the better way to get 200W or 300W with 6 KT88s.

Fun Fact is that Ireland is my most exported country for gear. 3 fuzz pedals there
