Yeah it runs fine off a daisy chain, 9VDC centre negative, current draw is 85ma
In fact my whole board is currently run off a onespot

I'm using one for each row for convenience, I've never ever had a problem either!
and yeah those CIOK things look really sick but it's money I could be spending on gear
