You know, I agree with Elizabeth Warren on a few things but I hate the way she speaks when she's trying to be evenhanded. I have the same reaction to Obama's "folks".

To crib from Elizabeth Bowen, if Trump is the stupid person's idea of what a rich person is like, then this style of oration is the stupid SNL-NPR listener's idea of how to explain things to different kinds of stupid people.

Yeah it seems a little insincere, sometimes high and mighty... I think of it as just a by-product of being a politician, though. Their attempts to appeal to everybody ends up making them come off a bit like schoolteachers talking to kids.
