Yeah, Polvo were a great band.
I also think saying they weren't a "noise rock" band isn't quite accurate. They definitely evolved from a noise aesthetic (although, with pop/rock song structures).

They deleted that Wussification thread and my 1:1 comment to like ratio went to shit.
Thanks for nothing, TGP.
Also Unsane and Cherubs are in the pantheon of Noise Rock greats.

You know, I agree. "They weren't not a Noise rock band" is a good way to put it

.
I've looked into what gear they used probably more than any other band...their answers are usually pretty funny..."Uh...not great guitars...not very good amps...maybe a tube screamer?" It's amazing how their weird modulations came from tuning. I can post this one image if I find it to save people time (if interested).

Poor, D.o.S.
Yeah, Polvo were pretty influenced by Sonic Youth. So, there was a lot of raggedy gear. Definitely all about the tunings.

PUCKER UP is a newer group. Very off the cuff. Crazy modded guitar (in the low tech way). It's like urban folk Noise rock.

I like both of those bands. I like THE BOREDOMS and THE HOSPITALS too. Early BLACK DICE?
