So this is about a week old, but I recently acquired a guitar from my bandmate:

Plays nice, but could really use some TLC. New nut, tuners, bridge saddle, switch. I want to do something with the bridge pickup, but I'm not sure what to look for that won't break the bank. Something with decent bass response and punchy mids. Chord clarity is a must and I don't need a shitload of output, but a little extra never hurts. I'm thinking some kind of PAF, but there are so many that I don't know what to look for that won't break the bank.

I really love a Duncan distortion in the bridge of an lp style guitar, and that won't break the bank.

Cool guitar. Japanese? Set neck or bolt on?

Just noticed I stuck this in the wrong damn place. Oh well.

It is Japanese, but there's no brand name on it. It looks a lot like those Univox and Hondo guitars I see all the time. It's got a bolt on neck, which means if I fuck up the neck doing something stupid, a new one shouldn't be a problem. AND there's no neck heel to slow me down past the 15th fret.

I've liked what I've heard of the Custom and Custom Hybrid and was trying to remember the other ones people have mentioned. Really, I've been digging the Dimarzio Super 2s in my main guitar, but their low end is really dry and tight. It makes my heavy bridge tones kind of sound like ear rape and both my other guitarist and bassist complain that there aren't enough lows. Dimarzio seems to only really make dark "shreddy" pickups, so I'm looking elsewhere. For what they are, the Super 2s aren't particularly hot, they're just extremely bright and push a load of mids.

I'm resurrecting this decade old thread to say I love my Quilter Tone Block 202. It works as well as any production, custom, or vintage tube head or solid state lead sled I've owned as a pedal platform that runs clean to edge of breakup with a usable EQ. It sounds the same at any volume, it's got some bells and whistles I don't use like an fx loop, it's loud as fuck, it's small and light, and I got it used for an affordable price. I've settled into my Doom Mom era

Have you tried turning off your email notifications for this site? It might help if you are so inclined to respond blindly, aggressively, and with little to no purpose than insulting just about everyone who has eyes to witness your (self-explanatory) wallowing sadness.

Thanks!
