I love SS and don't think I'll ever go tube.

Don't get me wrong, I dig the tube sound, but I can always get a pedal that creates a nice tube sound. With the Swell B-TOD going in to my Eden Nemesis head (pure SS), you'd swear it was a vintage tube amp. So when I want a beautiful clean sound it's off, when I want some tubeyness or some grind it's on. I haven't found anything in my FX travels that can turn a vintage tube amp into a lovely SS sound.

That's the main reason, the others are the obvious weight, money, and more money for upkeep factors.

Haha....I should have sent you that Swell pedal, man. It's not too late. Playing with that thing and you'll ditch the B3K and not think about switching from your SS setup. Your problem might be the B3K.

Something I can't say on other forums..... :animal:

THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE B3K I'LL FUCKING CUT YOU.

maxXxy mAps - i..... haven't had a chance to a/b. been stoopid busy. we have a dooder we're trying out on Monday (i really want a keyboard playah more than a guitar dooder/doodette), gonna try to go up there tonight if i'm not burnt out from The Workin's.

Microtubes for a microtube sound.

But...and this may also get my bass player's rights revoked....I think it's the clean blend that did the B3K in for me. A tube sound should not be blended. That's blasphemy. I need my tube sound all up in and out of my fucking sound. To the hilt.

And there's the thing; I don't really ever want that, the cleanest I want is volume down a bit and playing quietly, gotta have that dirt available just with my fingers, not a pedal. :idk:

Agree with you there though, clean blend is for massive fuzz and insane modulation, not overdrive.

No Blend On Mah OD - i thought so too, but the b3k is the first one i've owned that i was totally happy with. i can see how that would annoy folks though.

maybe its just the kind of bass playing i do, but in the presence of a nice bass OD or fuzz i'd rather have a clean bass tone and build off it.

Yeah, I have to say, after my second day ever with a tube amp, getting a clean tone is NOT a problem.

yeah, i know that. i mean any perceptable toob toanz seems to be in the breakup and never any point before. i don't hear any significant distinctly tube sound with clean toans in terms of bass amps

You must then play though more tube amps.

The main perceptible difference for me between Clean Tube and SS tones is how the sound comes out of the amp. A SS is going to be a real quick kind of sharp attack. A tube sound will kind of bloom. I think this leads to some of "warmth" in clean tube tone.
Sort of hard stuff to describe.

I don't like the sound of that overdrive whatsoever... I didn't know Owen Wilson played bass!?

I thought they sounded aight. I'm willing to bet that they'd sound better with a Boost/OD/Fuzz however.
