I was kind of disappointed that the PitchGrinder wasn't louder in the video, and the end section was pretty weak, but overall it was fun to make.

I want a Surrender Dorothy and a PitchGrinder sooooooo bad.

Here is what I wrote last night:

Tonight was mostly spent with Surrender Dorothy, which is a hell of a pedal.

My initial thoughts on it: The filter sweep is fucking amazing, and can really be used on its own by cranking the middle knob max, which seems to max the resonance to a point where it doesnt exist and just becomes an overdrive with a SUPER responsive tone knob.

The fuzz itself I noticed was glitchy at times and synthy, and as most of you know I would 99% of the time hate that. But the heaviness of the fuzz combined with the filter just sound... so... awesome together that I can't get enough. Those two knobs work so interestingly with each other that I really couldn't put it down. It can go from really dark bass overdrive, to synthy screeching bitty synthy noise in the turn of a knob. I'm REALLY impressed by it.

As far as my initial thoughts with the Pitchgrinder- I had a hard time fitting it into any sort of guitar context other than using 1 step as a general octave down, or to sweep up and down using the glide. If it had a blend control so that you could have clean signal coming through I think that would be rad, and in my situation, a little more usable for guitar and bass as I could use it post delay and have a warbly backdrop to play over, or pre-fuzz and have stepped octaves under my playing. As for noise oriented stuff, I enjoy the Pitchgrinder a lot more. Slowing down the steps of it and turning it almost into a beat generator to then lay more stuff on top of came in handy and the glide was really awesome, especially since you could change any of the pitches at will.

Gonna try that out tomorrow! I didn't have a chance to tonight, but I think it will be pretty cool. I think again the same applies that I would like to see the ability to blend some of the clean in, just so the complete character of whatever is sent through it isn't lost, or so you can hear what is being modulated and sequenced. As for a general pitch shifter keeping the sequence on just 1 step, its got a nice range to it. Sequencing between steps with the Little Boy Blue gave a sort of electronic feel, but that's just because I've never really used any sort of sequence in my noise before. What I LOVED doing with the Pitchgrinder is slowing the steps to a crawl and either gliding between them or stepping between them. When stepped it turned into a beat machine. When it was gliding, it was a sort of weird pitch-vibrato type thing

My only complaints about the pitch grinder. Volume and I wish the intervals were not perfect so it could be more dissonant. The steps on the pitch knobs would be cooler if it wasn't in steps and just a sweep of a note like oscillators usually operate.
