Glad you liked it, guys...although I'm not sure if Chank actually listened to it. If not, I think it's definitely worth your listening time. It's good stuff, and so are his other albums, which I've also been listening to. But yeah, Flying Beagle has the most fun title and album cover - unless you're a DOOMSDAY MACHINE (Dan, I'm looking in your direction).

 I totally listened to it. (*Goes back to check album*) Although, only the first 5 songs. :idk: Other music was callin' me to listen. :snax:

I think I got a good enough sense of what was goin' on. :p

don't mind me, i just had a bad beagle experience  :doom:

actually a big fan of fun and silliness mixed with jazz, Carla Bley being a great example

this one's very Kurt Weill if you like that kinda thing:

without the singing:

Escalator Over the Hill is [probs] rightly considered the high point:

full album playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuRYQ-Im ... aK0E_GxjI0

actually, silliness and joking were a *big* thing in early jazz, but over time that got to be less and less of a thing merhumblegrumble

so weird, bc i was just listening to this and planning to say something along the lines of "praise the noodly appendage there are review websites to warn me of the relative meretriciousness of releases like this" - now i will simply say - praise the noodly appendage for you, Grachan - you were one of my top 10 jazz composers and a helluva trombonist - and to go on your 85th birthday :(
i will definitely keep listening and flying your flag
oh - what i was listening to:

the 26 minute workout on Grachan's Hipnosis
Grachan jazz is
