Yeah, qersty's vid's unavailable to me.
Also, never heard this before and always wanted to:

Seems like some label reissued it.
Does not disappoint. That uploader's knockin' 'em outta the park.

Glad you liked it, guys...although I'm not sure if Chank actually listened to it. If not, I think it's definitely worth your listening time. It's good stuff, and so are his other albums, which I've also been listening to. But yeah, Flying Beagle has the most fun title and album cover - unless you're a DOOMSDAY MACHINE (Dan, I'm looking in your direction).Chankgeez wrote:^^^ Good one.Album cover is great as are the song titles.

don't mind me, i just had a bad beagle experienceLurker13 wrote:Dandolin wrote:i'll admit neither the cover nor the title inspired much confidence in me...In that case, Sheriff J.W. Pepper has just one question for you [snippers]
Flying Beagle has the most fun title and album cover - unless you're a DOOMSDAY MACHINE (Dan, I'm looking in your direction).
actually a big fan of fun and silliness mixed with jazz, Carla Bley being a great example
this one's very Kurt Weill if you like that kinda thing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUN0YJxnzyQ
without the singing:

Escalator Over the Hill is [probs] rightly considered the high point:
full album playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuRYQ-Im ... aK0E_GxjI0
actually, silliness and joking were a *big* thing in early jazz, but over time that got to be less and less of a thing merhumblegrumble

Re: Just Jazz!
so weird, bc i was just listening to this and planning to say something along the lines of "praise the noodly appendage there are review websites to warn me of the relative meretriciousness of releases like this" - now i will simply say - praise the noodly appendage for you, Grachan - you were one of my top 10 jazz composers and a helluva trombonist - and to go on your 85th birthday

i will definitely keep listening and flying your flag
oh - what i was listening to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6nLchdKcqM
the 26 minute workout on Grachan's Hipnosis
Grachan jazz is
