In one corner there is a discrete transistor four quadrant multiplier (Gilbert Cell), and in another I had a go at employing "super diodes" (which are opamp compensated diodes to eliminate the forward voltage drop) in an otherwise conventional transformer coupled diode ring.

In both instances I have observed an almost "half modulated" performance, in which I can more or less suppress the carrier signal while the primary input is silent, but the primary input is not suppressed at the lack of the carrier. It's sonically pleasing, but shies away from deep modulation.
intrigued, and I can't imagine you're at a stopping point with that :D :snax: :poke: :snax:

Wonderin' what it'd sound like with this entire track run through it:

:idk: :snax:
With what as carrier? Or should I just punch L side into primary input and R side into carrier input?

The four quadrant multiplier is fun, it can be mighty sensitive about settings though, getting a decent range around the through zero point involves very gentle pot rotation, and I don't think anyone in their right mind wants a multiturn pot on a fucking effects pedal (hahaah).

No, not at a stopping point yet. I'm more interested in a serviceable VCA circuit than gilding the lily on a ring mod, but that won't stop me from gilding lilies. Seriously, I'm just after a decent utility stage I can use as a building block. The multiplicative mixing is just icing on the cake, somewhat tangential but firmly related to the ring mod circus.

maybe feed the left and right outputs into a panner or ping-pong delay first, then into the primary and carrier :snax:

I'll fuck around with it, the prototype unit I had on hand is under destructive test at a friend's place, so it'll take me a minute to bang something out.

I see no reason not to use The Human League as a baseline comparison source by which all modulators are measured.

5 in 1, certainly fruit from the garden of unearthly delights.

I may be suffering from morning brain, but that part about the album being playable from the pedal is fucking wicked, if literally true.

pretty sure it's true, but not sure how playback is triggered /initiated.

looks like this was a short run for Bandcamp Friday. I wanna get more into programming and see what I can come up with programming for some hardware like Norns Shield/Hoxton Owl/Electro Smith Petal or someaught....

Yes, you should do this m8. I want you to that too.

Thank goodness the frayned knot was a limited run. I have well beyond anything I would ever need but... that one could pulled the ole FRAY SWAY on me.
