If you're playing on PC, I would stick with the knifewench. My bud plays as the douchebag and he's always losing his thrown weapons to a magic disappearing item glitch. Throw two useless things and a good weapon, get the junk back and your sweet knife is gone.

Oh god I did that. I wanted to sell them, but by the end I could make potions so expensive that with 5 I could buy a merchant's entire inventory... I tried to swap them for gold and stuff with the highest value/mass ratio like soul gems. Didn't help that much because I just made more potions... Skyrim needs some more stuff worth buying, and/or Creeper/Mudcrab Merchant characters.

Just got to the City in Dead Island...got trapped in an area with infinite infected spawns (kill 1, and then 2 more charge at you...kill those 2 and another 2-4 come right at you before you have time to recover...repeat until you lose a ton of money).
Had to finally give up and just run away, leaving behind a few of my nicer machetes/knives
