Congrats on the spawn, dewd.
AxAxSxS wrote:D.o.S. wrote:Yeah. On the youtubes it seems like the Ritual is higher-gain and less treble-y than the original. Which, obviously, is very relevant to my interests.
Anyone used one of these on bass before?
I liked it on bass, but it was not my favorite. In all fairness there are LOT of killer pedals up in the jam room right now. Tony is using a Wizard fuzz, a Pharaoh, and a revelation to add some thickness to either of those. Hard to beat.
I like things a bit smoother than the ritual is. I use it sparingly now, just as an addition to the all out uber heavy sounds.
Hiiiinerestng. My smooth is covered. My Colorsound flavors are not.

Dude, is that like one of those Randall module dealys?
Yeah. It's a custom one from Salvation Mods.
Since I am not a gigging musician I can get by with these modular preamps.
I either use a line out to my computer or run them into a 20 (El84) or 100 watt (El34) power amp.
To me it's a good cheap way to get good classic amp tones. I also have a Marshall plexi toJCM800 module and a Hiwatt.[/quote]
That's really cool. So you don't actually have to have the Randall modular amp to run them as long as you run into the computer or another poweramp?

No, You definitely need a Randall MTS amp to interface the mod. But, they're pretty cheap now. I picked one up an RM100 for 225.
I am keen on getting an RM4 which is just a 4 Preamp unit with various lines out.

Trigger pulled. That Colorsound circuit is rad, and I've always wanted to support BAT more.
One more educated than I might be able to fill in the blanks, but I thought the Black Forest was the tweaked Coloursound? Or is the ritual a streamlined BF?

Ah cool. Yeah good idea. I used to play a rack power amp and was considering this sort of thing...but then I got the Sovtek.

Touche. I may have to look into those since they can be had for reasonable prices.

The BF is based on the Colorsound Overdriver with Wino magic sprinkled into it. The Ritual is based on the Colorsound one knob fuzz.

If you guys are interested you can check out some of the differences between the one knob fuzzes here
http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/201 ... nanza.html.
The ritual is on there as is the colorsound and the dam meathead. They all follow the same basic design of the fuzz face but change around some components. The ritual uses a bigger input and output capacitor for more bass and different transistors compared to the colorsound. I actually just put together one in a tiny little case and so of course he now puts them on sale at a price that is awesome.

Well, it's a multi channel SVT Classic...if you feel comfortable paying a G for it, it's a good deal. Likely you won't find and SVT CL for a G.

I thought I was being sarcastic but realize I wasn't. For some reason I thought something that was incorrect. Just strike my whole comment from the record.
