i feeel really confused and heartbroken. i traded in the truck so i could get a used Toyota Camry, and you'd think that's great, right? well, i feel like i was kind of pressured into buying a car i don't like all that much, and i miss my truck with a deep, searing pain as if one of my limbs had been cut off. that truck and i went through heaven and hell together. and now she's gone, and i have to look at five years of payments that may make it impossible to save any money. i want to cry. in fact, i am crying. why does everything have to be so fucking ambiguous? isn't there anything left in the world that's an unalloyed good thing?

I'm 27 and I've never driven a car. Hope that helps just a tiny bit.
Things sometimes symbolise more to us than it really should. You said it yourself, that what you miss isn't the function the truck had, but the memories associated with it. You still have those memories, even without the car. You're probably thinking "shut up you little cunt. You don't know how I feel". But I've recently sold most of my videogame collection in order to use the money for things that I feel are more important, like books for school and a new bed. And for me that was the worst, as I've had them since I was very little and I associated them with good times both alone and with friends, some of which has passed away. Sad to say, it was like telling your best friend that you didn't want anything to do with them anymore. But from sadness comes a sweet nostalgia, or as Butters so perfectly explains it: "I guess what I'm feelin' is like a, beautiful sadness". You WILL look back at it with a smile on your face, even though it feels terrible right now.

that truck took me places i'd otherwise never seen, all over the Western US. my ex and i had some wonderful trips in the Barge, and she hauled me and all my stuff across the country three times in eighteen months after i lost the house. i'd have been lost without her. that truck was a member of the family, and i miss her. but it was at the point that i couldn't afford to keep repairing her any more, especially when thousands of dollars wouldn't have gotten her in shape to pass Virginia's stringent safety inspections which you have to pass in order to register the vehicle. so fifteen years of my life goes away with her.

Make some new memories in your new car and move on with your life. Drive around the eastern US with a new partner.

Sometimes it's just like "everything is good!" and then a little later it's like "NO, EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IS FUCKING WEIRD."

That pang when there's someone you really like, and have really liked for a long time, and she probably likes you a lot too, but the two of you have almost nothing in common. Life is annoying sometimes.

Today: Weeeeee, I love how owning a car means that you have to randomly pay hundreds of dollars without warning.

lame. You should probably buy a new set of something else that will fit your strings. That's weird that they wouldn't even fit a 12.
