The successful candidate has success not because of perchievement, but because of candidacy? Because candelabra? Cicada? Candiria? Call me Ishmael? Roy? Where ya been, Roy? Fakin bizkits til makin bizkwiks? I should reserve judgement on the old Brunswick.

I've been playing, writing, and recording music pretty regularly in the past few weeks. It's been way too long since I did that and it has me actually feeling excited, enthusiastic, and positive. I'm trying not to put too much pressure on it/myself, give my brain a chance to digest ideas and not overload, since everything else is pretty massively shit lately lol. It's definitely a positive though, I'm excited to keep working on new songs and refine the ones I already made demos for.

Worth getting a month-long subscription to Mubi just to see William Kentridge: Self-Portrait as a Coffee-Pot.

For those that don't know, William Kentridge is an artist from South Africa also incorporates a fair amount of animation into his work. He started shooting this series of shorts during the first phase of the lock-down (so there are lots of scenes with himself and his doppelgänger in conversation/conflict.

It's a nice sunny day today and I finally had a day off work and could fix my guitar! Yay to having a working neck pickup for the first time in a few months :) A bunch of cables had become detached from a blob of solder on the back of the volume pot, and resoldering them did the trick. I was worried the pickup switch had died and I'd have to get a new one and make sure I got all the cables resoldered correctly.
