That album changed my life when I first heard it. That was the first time lyrics ever resonated with me and made me realize that songs could be a vehicle for addressing issues to a wider audience. That album is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time. I've probably watched the video for Caboose more than any other video too.Ancient Astronaught wrote:I like black metal / grindcore when I'm working and zoned in on what ever I'm doing, my current fav is Anaal Nathraak's "The Necro Codex". Sooooooo brutal.
SNAPCASE!!!!!!Harry_Manback wrote:Sandrider had been my workout jam for the last couple months. Snapcase, HoF and Ministry always bring the sweats too.One of my favorite bands evah! The intro to caboose while soo simple somehow is burned into my mind as the greatest way to start a song ever written. Progression through unlearning changed my view of how to play music forever. And that snare sound!!!!!!
Like a fucking .50 cal sniper rifle turning your enemy into a fine pink mist, and their vocalist is one of the most cathartic sounding ever, only surpassed by Jacob Bannon.
I saw them live back in 2001 in San Francisco, with Face To Face and H2O. I never got deep into them, but I remember enjoying them that night and buying the CD. I don't even know if I still have it, I had so many CD binders stolen in the 90's and early 00's.Ancient Astronaught wrote:
Totally agree on the lyrics and top 5 albums, I'm sooooo pissed I never got to see them live.I didn't get really too far intot he lyrics until the electronic hybrid sounding album came out and I could really hear what he was saying as I had lost the case and cover for the album shortly after buying the album, but once I did start paying attention it blew my mind. What really got me was the drumming on the albums as at that time I was mainly a drummer, such sick sick sick musical ability in that group, and the way they compose songs is envious.
Same. My name is up next for a Dunwich and I need €400 for import duties. Hopefully Nick will be able to start building soon. No pressure, by the way, Nick, I know you're a busy man.mc_muench wrote:Holding out for DA120. Must not spend money in mean time.
My friend is an amateur boxer that would love to go pro one day. We were talking shop, so to speak, the other day and were discussing our walk out songs. He loves cheesy 80's music and classic rock. I can't remember exactly what he picked but it was AWESOME and suited him perfectly! I then played him this...pelliott wrote:my girlfriend likes QOTSA and stuff like that and she just asked me to load her flash drive up with new pump up music for the gym and i hovered the mouse over the Pig Destroyer folder and started sweating
The Dyna Comp is ideal for that. If you're not fussed about transparency then it's a good option. The Warden might be overkill if you just want a little extra 'bounce' to your signal, so to speak. Just be aware that the Ross/Dyna Comp circuits and also the infamous Orange Squeeze circuits can be a little noisy and become a little... messy when hit with a heavy signal. Optical compressors, like The Warden, are quieter and can handle hotter signals. Some say they're not as interesting though.crohny wrote:Sustain, evening out attack and some more girth wouldn't hurt. I have played the pigtronix. Without the dirt knob utilized I dug it. It's also pretty small which was rad. I don't want anything super fucking crazy. Just need to get the job done. Studio quality sounds like it's more than I'd be willing to spend on a compressor haha. The Warden is on my radar for sure though.
theres a bit more done, sorry. Im trying to blast out the custom pedal builds then do amps without any distractionsAngryGoldfish wrote: Same. Do you read Vice? Oxbow's Eugene Robinson has a whole Q&A series with musicians about their walkout songs:AngryGoldfish wrote:Same. My name is up next for a Dunwich and I need €400 for import duties. ... and he looked at me like I was joking. That opening riff would be a signature that I was about to emerge from the confines of my... 'meditation' room. Then the insanity would commence. People would be freaked the fuck out and I would be happy as larry knowing this was my jam. I could skip ahead to "Don't you ever try to be more than you were destined for or anything worth fighting for" just as I was starring the opponent down in the ring. He'd flip. Until I took off my robe and he saw I was not built like Greg from Dillinger.
You lucky dog you. I recently found like 3 of my old CD binders in my garage I was sooo stoked, so many odd and rare CD's that are near impossible to find even in digital format. Mainly alot of my old off the wall Skinny Puppy CD's and old terrorizer comps.Corey Y wrote:I saw them live back in 2001 in San Francisco, with Face To Face and H2O. This is a really great series. I've always thought Rumors of War by HoF would be amazing to blast over stadium PAs instead of Welcome to the Jungle or Thunderstruck for the millionth time during a kickoff. Let alone someone walking alone into an arena to some of this stuff? Chills, damnit.D.o.S. wrote: Do you read Vice? Got to check out the VT-40 yesterday. It's a super clean top loader version and everything seems to be in working order...but the 10" speakers are gone, replaced with a 15" JBL of some sort. Explains the good price.Holy Schnikes wrote:And yes, if that Ampeg is in good shape I'd def hit it! If you want to rehouse it in the future, make it a head version, I know a guy with a vintage V-2 head shell that you could snatch up at a nice price...Harry_Manback wrote:
Ampeg VT-40 on the local CL for $390. Thinking I should hit that for $360.
