Just updated my rev K & J CT5's. The K with the updates is pretty amazing in terms of the amount of functions and options. The mode 3 modulation is particularly nice at very slow tempos, where you can hear it slur between steps. mode 1 modulation is great too - i like it on pretty low depth for some subtle swirl, but it can get nice and seasick up high.

Still getting the hang of the new mode 1 stutter* function - it doesn't seem as dramatic as I was expecting based on the description. but i only had a few minutes this morning, so maybe i just need to spend some more time with it. [*EDIT - it's not stutter. Scott explained below]

not that the CT5 needs anything else, but I still think it would be interesting to have some envelope-based modulation on all 3 modes, particularly if the envelope reads off the combined buffer + input. It could use a similar setup as the mode 1 [realign] with a threshold control, and maybe a depth control that is 0 at noon, and then increases in a negative direction CCW and positive direction CW.

I just want a small envelope/follower expression pedal that I can plug anywhere. Like a standalone moog env out with more options.

yep - just came out. adds modulation & [realignment trigger] in mode 1, and a sequencer to mode 3

The point of the trigger is actually to make it more coherent, not more whacky/stuttery/dramatic. Here i made a very short video with a one note example to show the idea.

I did not expect the new firmware so soon, wow! Thank you Scott, you knocked it out of the park with this, cannot wait to try it.

ahh, thanks Scott. That clarifies it. The folks asking for ways to make this function more as a regular delay should like this.

Thanks. That was what I was meaning. It works more like a regular delay with the trigger. Less random. Thanks! Can't wait to try this myself.

One idea on the mode 3 sequencer - I'm not sure if/how it could be implemented given the current knob setup, but it would be neat if there were a way to control it so that different playback heads stepped in different directions. e.g., dir 1 would sequence in downward steps, dir 2 upward, and dir 3 up + down. that might reflect the fact that i usually use mode 3 in the 5ths + octaves q setting, and in that q setting the sequencer steps often overlap between the playback heads. so if there were a way to separate them that would help distinguish the impact of the sequencer. just another thought thrown on the wall...
