It is one of the most terrible guitars I've seen.
Agreed, do like the Dimebucker though.

Maybe the concept was that a pickup made for redneck metal would work nice on a barn guitar?

THis is for sale locally, and it is pretty crap:
The guy (a Swede) apparently bought it from Frankie Sullivan, who is (obviously) well known from his stint in Survivor.
You can see him not using the guitar in the following image:
