About Chorus: What Skip said.
Although running after time based effects can be cool as well, but I like it before em and after dirt.
Mostly I use chorus to make Kim Thayill sounds or bad faux leslie ones.
I did used to frequently step on my boss digital dimension because it sounded fucking nasty. Way more evil than regular chorus. And it actually sounded like two guitars if you set it just right. Also some uni-vibe chorus sounds in there.
I had to stop listening to the new Indian after two songs on my first listen. I was just not prepared for that amount of intensity.
I have never said that about a record before.
It's a good thing.
A GOOD THING.
Edit: What T-rey said about those things vibey and phasey before dirt. Fucking TRUTH.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Thanks for all the chorus advice y'all. It's got me stoked for the trade and made me glad I snapped it up.
Tomorrow will be my first afternoon off of work in awhile and I can't wait to get loud. Although I'm really itching to get my RedBear MK60 back from the shop.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
i'm just getting a chance to sit down and listen to this new indian album right now. this is really good. and the sound is killer. the guitars sound so fucking good. i'm only on the third song so far, but i absolutely love it. good job will.
i really want to join in this wild new gear craze, but it'll still probably be a little while before i can afford any new gear. new job is going well though and i should start having gear funds soon.
we had our first practice in six weeks the other night and our other guitar player's amp shit the bed 5 minutes into it. such a bummer. fucking old amps. it's always one of us.
as far as chorus in doom, if you listen to much funeral doom, a lot of those bands use chorus for clean parts all the time. i love chorus on the cleans. i never use it with dirt though. i actually get my chorus/vibe sounds from my DMM, which is my favorite fucking chorus in the world. i've always loved modulated delays. but the chorus/vibe on the DMM is a bit more like a straight chorus alongside delay. very syrupy and mournful. i love it.

Gonna be a long time before anything shiny and new arrives in the mail for me.
Mate I used to play in a band with used his for that occasionally. Not nearly enough in retrospect. It does sound delicious.misterstomach wrote:but the chorus/vibe on the DMM is a bit more like a straight chorus alongside delay. very syrupy and mournful. i love it.

I just got my demon king tonight. I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited for it.chillerthanmost wrote:I'm gonna post a few pedals in the bst tonight, but if anyone here is interested I'll hold them aside before posting. I'm kind of wanting to pick up an Oh See Demon and a Mr. Black Supermoon, both for my bass board (or something similar to those two if a friend builds them or something).
Selling:
Textured vertical Fuck OD
Greenhouse Effects Middleman
Custom finish Smallsound Sparkle Motion
Ivory finish w/ violet LED Pharaoh BAT
(I might actually hold on to the pharaoh. Idk. I'm on the fence about it. I'll decide by tonight.)
Just holler if you're interested
You should probably hang onto the Pharaoh. I just got rid of mine and I kind of regret it. My issue with it is that it sounds really great but kinda found it tame and there's really only one setting that works well.
I'm still in search of the best muff variant for my ears. I'd like something with a little more grind and crackle to it.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I'm so mad at myself right now. I made some pickup route templates for the sg12 and had all the routes done except for that. I did the neck one and it came out great, the I PUT THE TEMPLATE DOWN BEHIND THE TREM ROUTE AN LINED IT UP WITH THAT.
WTF.
I was completely sober, I don't know what the hell I was thinking. Drugs would have explained the massive brain fart that occurred, but I can't blame it on that.
So I spent the last 4 hours making and fitting a plug, it's still not perfect. PISSSSSSSSSSS!
That thing was so close to perfect till I fucked it up. It's still going to be a player, but dammit, it was going to be flawless.

Those are the worst. I do that sort of thing all the time--leaving a coffee mug on a counter, wandering off, forgetting where I put it despite only having like five flat surfaces in the residence.

dm-2s have a bueatiful oscollating tone. id make the trade.chillerthanmost wrote:Also, I might have the opportunity to trade my old, big box MXR Analog Delay for a Boss DM-2. I've never played a DM-2, but I could use the smaller size analog delay since the MXR is huge. The MXR also uses it's own power cord. Anyone use a DM-2 on bass? Would love to hear any feedback/opinions. I'm seeing they both range around the same on the used market, give or take.

good deals with Noise. . .guitmatt, magiclawnchair, delaydecay, Fuzz_Pi, nixhex113, theAntihero, Ancient Astronaught, bigchiefbc, jwojtysiak, neonblack, osbornkt

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I only like my pharaoh set on the low gain setting of the germanium side. Tone and high rolled down to around 10 o'clock and the fuzz and volume cranked. Besides that, I don't like any other setting. Tonight I used my Bluebeaed and it pulled it off nicely. But better yet, it was creamer on the leads and better sustain on the hold outs. It also played well with my Rat Tail and Mini, both after it. Also, it's custom etched, so I won't get rid of it. While the Pharoah is easily available again if I ever want it back. I also have a TAFM if I want muffy with extreme settings. So, I could use the money from the dent the SVT gave me.Timm Grimm wrote:I just got my demon king tonight. But in other but similar news, my buddy lent me his Oh See Demon tonight and it sounded EXACTLY like what I had in my head to accomplish with the recently acquired SVT. Just spot on growl. Gonna have to look into getting one.

Shifted gears and started working on inlays and busted my last mini router bit. this thing was roaring along and now has decided it wants to sit I think. Or it's mad at me for fucking it up.

I was really surprised the OSD had absolutely no feedback and I had the volume as far up as it goes. In fact, that was kind of a concern because it never really quite hit unity volume even at its gatherers volume setting. But goddamn it sounded exactly like what I've been looking for. The SVT didn't react as well with my Mini, which is what I was using before. Which is fine because I can use it on guitar and sell my Fuck. I haven't tried the Rat Tail yet but I guess I can always use an OCD type pedal around anyways, so I'm just gonna look out for an OSD/DK. Actually, honestly, I might just build one. Seems like a beefed up OCD v3. I'll look up cost of parts. OSD's are going for around $130 used. Hmm....
