So. I love my bass. The sound is amazing. It plays like a dream. The graphite neck is so nice in the humid swamps of the fatherland. But yeah, an 18V preamp built into it....it doesn't play well with fuzzes or comps. And I don't want a second bass. So I've looked into getting a preamp bypass built into the bass to make it go passive....I was advised from my Tech and Rob Greene himself not to try it.....I got a Radial Tonebone Dragster to change the impedance....no luck......my latest idea is to put another pedal in front of my fuzzes....something that can take the output of my bass and make it friendlier on the fuzzes but not alter the tone and also keep the volume relatively the same after leaving the pedal. Does that make sense? Like, if I got a PWNZOR or Elements to lessen my basses output bite.....I dunno?

Buy a passive bass and put a Mosses graphite neck on it. :p

I have a HYDRA which is I think similar... I NEED something that can track at least a low E for a whole note, that's why I use a freq box[s] now... it will do this...

...
big evil board is so awesome... gigging with it is... no it's still awesome... fitting it on the stages and the van though is not... :grumpy: maybe I'll make a smaller board the the NEED pedals that fits on the big board somehow...

Or, or send me your Deluxe.

Does anyone follow the Verellen club thread? I've noticed that there have been some issues with the Meatsmokes lately. Kind of scary. I ALMOST bought one not that long ago, but didn't for some reason. The tone sounds killer, but the price is also killer.

Speaking of necks. I've been thinking about asking Sheldon about buying a fretless neck for my Dingwall. I wonder if he'd make me one. Hmmmmmmmmmmm....could be hot. Just sayin. "why would you put a fretless neck on a Dingwall??? blah, blah, blah" Because fuck you. That's why. Ok? And because it'd be sexy.

I never understand people that ask why about anything to do with something artistic... who is anyone to question why you do anything? it's one thing is they are actually interested but most of the time it's cuz they think you odd and shit.. well good! poor them for not being odd enough :thumb:

I am telling you, I use my MarkBass on a 5 string. It tracks the low B perfectly.

I bought a Meatsmoke off here two weeks ago. No quality issues at all so far. Mine had also been back to Verellen for a dual voltage conversion so I'm thinking it should be pretty well tested. Overall, it sounds incredible and seems really well made. It's something to worry about I guess but if Ben is as much of a good dude as people say he is, I'm sure he'll cover issues for those guys. Small shops doing custom stuff well probably have some adapting to do to release more items at a faster rate. I'd be unhappy with a fault but as long as it isn't related to a shitty design or poor quality components, I can accept a repair and resolution without crying about it.

Of course, if you look at the Darkglass Microtubes thread, hyped up product can get TB people pretty hysterical. If those guys have any QC issues on release it will look like the Empire State Building scene from King Kong over there. I really like how classy Doug and Spencer have been on that thread.

Just putting some context into it and to show I'm not sitting here like a smug arsehole with working gear, I've got one pedal in for repair right now and two pedals that have just gone missing in transit to Australia. So I'm three pedals down, it looks like one trade item in particular I am completely screwed on - not the tradee's fault, just shitty luck and possibly a stolen or lost parcel. A second one is a new purchase and is being chased up at the moment. The repair pedal is just fucking comical - it apparently has a cascade of problems that a local guy is working through. Obviously, I'm pissed about all three but there comes a point where you need to give people a break and accept some bad luck from time to time.

If the dragster didn't do it, I don't think you'll see much benefit trying to do it with pedals. If anything I might try turning the volume down on the bass and then using a clean boost to brings some of the level back to the chain.

I'm guessing he thinks the preamp bypass wouldn't work do to the pickups being active? I'm not sure why a preamp bypass would be so bad. If you really love how the bass feels and plays, you might look into a set of nordstrand pickups and consider wiring it passive or getting an active/passive per of some sort.

I think it's the way the preamp is wired in with the EQ. I dunno. But I'm not wanting to alter the bass at all. The clean sound is amazing. Exactly where I want it. So I'm hoping to find a way to retain that clean sound while getting good vibes from my dirt. The turning the bass down works. Putting a boost at the end of the chain would work, and then every time I engage a pedal I could turn my volume knob on my bass down.....but I was hoping to find something better than "click pedal while twisting bass knob". That might be the best method, though.

when I used actives and fuzzes that didn't like them my quick fix was to put a booster turned down before the fuzz and turn the fuzz's output up and have them both in a loop :idk:

I dig;

Is that an iPad and what is the Alesis and does it make it so that the iPad is actually usable as a performance tool?

I find myself with a chubby for a boner bass.

Not this one, but one like it; same blue burst finish.

$7hundo at Guitar Center.

Probably NOT gonna buy it, but it sounded amazing.

Well my idea is that you'd have the boost on all the time and you'd keep the bass volume in the same place all the time, that way you'd wouldn't have to be constantly twiddling. You'd want a super transparent boost or compressor of course, some thing like the Aguilar TLC would be a make sense.

yessuh. the Alesis is an IO Dock. gives you real midi in/out and 1/4 main outputs. plus 2 preamp ins for mics. and powers the 'pad.

it's GOOD.
