Meatsmoke works great for bass and guitar; I've used an SVT for guitar twice- one time was glorious, the other was merely 'meh'. I think 1500 for a vintage SVT with a roadcase is a hell of deal- definitely more possibility of a profitable flip than with the Verellen. Ben V is a great dude and stands behind all his shit 100%. Can't really go wrong with either amp.

Thank you guys for the bass help. I think either a Meatsmoke or an SVT should be sufficient enough to hold me down with my 810. If not then I'm giving up and going back to guitar, haha! But no, really, as a fan of amps I figured it's not a bad idea to have a big bass monster amp in the collection. It's still gonna be a while before I can get an OR200 type amp, so I gotta find a fix until then.

Or better yet, do the 9 volt test by removing the grill, applying 9 volt current to the normal pos and neg. you should see the speakers move in the same direction if everything is good.
I've had and tried so many cabs. Different speakers, vented, sealed, small, big, modern, vintage, etc. I've definitely come to like sealed cabs and some small vented low watt cabs. But yeah, I still might eventually get something custom made but I like the tone that comes out of my 810 at the moment. I just feel it needs more power to push big volumes but I don't want to go solid state.
And I always check the polarity of all my cabs. I get paranoid playing my amps when I've had speaker problems in the past. I usually re-wire all my cabs to make sure they are running fine and I usually just like experimenting with speakers on my guitar gear. Bass cabs are all running fine and in phase, it's usually just when I play certain pedals through different amps when phase issues come up. I used to run a clean blend in the past and that just seems easier and more convenient, haha.

Anybody running daisy chains off of their power supply? If so, can you point me toward a good 3-5 (preferably 3) daisy chain cable that I can just plug into the supply? All the ones I've seen would have to be plugging into a cable that's already plugged into the supply.

On the one hand I wish them all the success in the world, on the other I like seeing bands in small clubs and not paying a bunch to do it. This does not bode well for that.

I didn't do this while playing gigs, but I have a few times hooked my One Spot daisy chain to one of the plugs on my PP2+ when trying out a few different pedals. Just hooked them inline and then ran them into my board. Didn't have any power issues that way. I was being lazy and didn't wanna keep pulling pedals off of my board over and over.

Stoked for those dudes- I go back a ways with a coupleathem bros and I gotta say I prefer the music of their previous projects. But I'm really happy they're still grinding it out and seeing some success from all the hard work.

This seems like a really good point.
I remember about 10 years ago a bandmate of mine had inherited lots of gear from his dad.
They only a food distribution type place and there's tons of gear stored there. Some really awesome old Acoustic stuff (we used the 2x15 with horn for guitar for the longest time... stopped working and we haven't looked at it since) and a whole bunch of other shit.
In any event, they found a vintage OG Ampeg SVT. I couldn't give you the exact year but my friend's dad is reasonable old and has had that amp for forever.
It was in pretty rough shape electronically. I'm sure tubes were still original but it wasn't working correctly. It powered on but not much else. At some point in time bees had made a nest inside of it, no shit.
My buddy trades it for an SVT Classic 300 and gets some cash to boot.
All I'm saying is... if you pickup the SVT and don't like it I think you'll break even on the flip and you'll be able to flip it faster, or so I'd like to believe.
I want to encourage you to get a Meatsmoke because every time I've heard one I've really enjoyed it but I've also listened to your band enough times to know that the context in which I've heard it is not the same context as what you play, ultimately Russian Circles, Helms Alee is not the brand you're subscribing to sonically with your current effort. That's not to say a Meatsmoke wouldn't work out for you quite nicely, it's just to say that I haven't heard one played in that style to see how well it fits.

I agree with grabbing the meatsmoke. I've had the opportunity to play through one, and it just sounded awesome. Clean and overdriven. Honestly you should have no issue selling it. The market is flooded with SVT's. Not to mention the resale value ranges in price and I've seen them as cheap as $1000. The meatsmoke is really coveted right now. They rarely come up for sale used and you could really name your price. Look over in the classifieds of talkbass, do a search for how often they've been sold and how long it sat there. I haven't, but I doubt there have been very many and I'm sure they went very fast. If you did the same search for SVT, I bet there's been a bunch and have sat for considerable time. Just my two cents.

i run two 5 way daisy chains off my decibel 11 and i have no issues with it. Just need to check the mA total…the decibel 11 i have has 400mA on each output, so can easily manage 5 pedals.

Just did the search and the last true meatsmoke that was posted sold the same day. There's a hybrid up right now that's sitting there but I wouldn't read anything into that.
I'll admit it, I don't like red fang. Sonically just doesn't do it for me.

exactly - how do you say "nah, we *don't* want Paul to play" ???
either way, sounded good - stoked for the bros, but yah...lots less chance of them playing small clubs anymore.
