I might not have gotten the MT-2W if it weren't for what Nick did with the custom mode. I'm still not sure if it will be something I'll use, but I gotta try it

Oooh... I really love my Cutting Room Floor, so more Recovery randomness would probably be very cool.

I like the small format and the samples in this first clip, but my previous experience with Elta was not enjoyable. Their Polivoks V2 filter was nowhere near as aggressive or as pleasurable as the Erica Acidbox II. Also, the background noise (LFO issue?) was atypically loud and annoying, so I returned it.
At $500 street (before any discounting), how many people will choose these over Minilogues or something like an SE-02?

For people who are interested, PCA has blue/black/green/yellow on order.

Looks like a new point of entry for those that may have considered the Happy Ending Kit or the Pittsburg floor box thing.

I'm too much of a dilettante to know - but those look way to shallow to be universally useful?

Yeah, look shallow. And the annoyance of slinkying a bunch of modules as if they were pedals. I really like the case format so I guess this isn't for me. Maybe if you had the most perfect case but had to have that one extra module. On the other hand, a powered Make Noise skiff is only $250 for 104hp.

I know 4ms are marketing it with their modules, most of which are pretty big, but you could definitely fit an Intellijel synth voice in one of those 32HP cases (maybe Dixie II, uVCF, uVCA, and Quadra). Pair that with a Korg SQ-1 and you have a fun and portable setup.
Could also be useful to pair an effects module with a mixer or audio interface. You could fit a Phonogene or Erbe-Verb and a couple of small modulation sources.

You're right, there could be some relevant uses for people that want to integrate a module or two with another setup. Some talk in the modular thread about how these could be used too. When I read about the daisy chain for power supplies it just made me think about building a setup with these as if they were pedals.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't want to build an entire setup in these. I would be most interested in putting my Radio Music, Nebulae, and some kind of modulation in one of these to have a little mini sample player. But they do look rather shallow; I'm not sure if either of those modules would even fit

I recently talked myself out of this. I’ve always been fascinated by the Soviet synths, and have always dreamed of owning one. This really isn’t one of those synths, though. This is based on a design that the original engineer made for a follow up to the Polivoks.
So, outside of getting it for the aesthetic or to have another analog desktop unit, I really don’t see the point... And that makes me sad, because I wish this really was the paraphonic monster in a desktop box.
