my aunt bought my folks some nice port for xmas one year. between them, my brother and me, we got through it in an evening. my aunt was like "how is it all gone already" and it's like... what the hell else is it even for, y'know?

Exactly. The stuff is for drinking. No beer can taste better than, idk maybe $20 (does not apply in Norway) at the absolute outside for something completely weird and wonderful you try once. And I would need several regular priced beers to convince me that this wasn't a dumb move
I'm not a collector but I can sort of understand the mindset for some things. But not with things that are meant to be eaten/drunk.
Pickles though. Love pickles. i should make some pickles.

Do they self-oscillate or glitch?

A cool breeze blew through the neighbourhood as I kissed my dog on the nose and my wife on the cheek (she has the flu) and I headed from sunny east end Toronto (3m) to nearby Hamilton (557k). No lineup at the McDonalds drive through for a morning coffee at Coxwell and Queen. The Gardiner Expressway was free and clear with minimal traffic, the 403 a brilliant clear with no accidents and everyone driving 110. I pull off and I am in the downtown core of their beautiful city within minutes and pull up outside a local hospital. The seller is texted and comes down immediately. The product, a DOD Death Metal (FX86b) is a beautiful all black with only a few lines of red blood splatter. The gentleman is polite, I’m illegally parked and we hastily make the swap, shake hands and within 60 seconds I’m driving home, pausing to stop at a Toronto book and record store where I drop off a few wares from my basement and to get a coffee.
Then I went to my former rehearsal space, picked up my Ampeg 810 to commission at a local shop and head home. Later I get a call from the record store that I have $360 in shop credit for my wares.
Playlist was:
New FETID LP (really classy)
Death - Leprosy
Gruesome Stuff Relish - Teenage Giallo Grind
Dead Congregation - Graces of the Archangels
All in all, a most pleasant day.

Just popping in to say, I fucking loved Canada when I went last year. Vancouver became my new favorite city. I haven't been to Montreal or Toronto though. Hoping to change that soon.

9:30 AM to Hamilton and 10:45 back. Missed the rush hour both ways. I love a Death Metal pedal but I’m not sitting in traffic for one. Even I have my limits.
Tomorrow I’m renting a cube van and driving a 70’s teak couch to Guelph to my sister in law and taking her to the dump and maybe Costco. For this kindness I will have a huge space in my basement available to call “a studio” (it’s grim) and I can make all the noise I want. I hooked up a contact mic to a giant sheet of metal and ran it through some effects not realizing my wife is on a business call upstairs.
