Awh man I can't disagree more. I love the look of dovetailed plywood. The parallel symmetry of the plys hitting the sharp lines of the pins/tails looks good every single time.
Why go through the trouble to make something beautiful only to cover it?

since we're on the subject of verellen. their cosmetics do not reflect their price point. i don't give a fuck how good they may or may not sound. if an amp looks like they just put the thing together and said fuck it when it came time to do the cabinet and faceplates. i'm not gonna wanna play it.
I will add that, coming from a furniture making background, I can't stand seeing natural/stained dovetailed plywood enclosures.
If you're gonna use plywood, cover it in tolex, please.
I think the point of that is to showcase the natural design of an electricity current burning through the wood. I dig the idea
I've seen a bunch of bands who have rocked either Verellen / Science and they always sound damn fucking good. kind of like when you see someone bust out an EGC (disregarding whatever shenanigans). wouldn't clump them with the likes of hovercraft. also nothing wrong with rocking v4s or stacked peaveys

Looks like a sign for a new trendy country bar to look swanky in Believe so hipsters can dress down as people from Aberdeen and talk about how depressed they are...

I like the wood look for sure. It's classy, but I also dig the torn fishnets look too...

Is that one of the electricity units?
I thought it was just spalted veneer.

Yeah that one is just spalted, the electrical ones have way thicker lines.
Ben builds great amps though, and makes a bunch of older, sought after amps more affordable than the original and with modern construction/a warranty etc, which I think is pretty neat.
I also have no idea what makes an amp look expensive apparently, I've always like Bens stuff and thought it was high end based off appearance alone

, the joinery on them is really professional and the staining and lacquering is done to a very high standard.
With all that said, I'm selling a Verellen to pay for an EGC and the V4 remains, so I guess there's that.

I'd like to note that my dislike of the dovetail plywood is 100% furniture maker snobbery.
When I see dovetail work, I want to see it on something like walnut and maple where that grain is nice and clear.

I don't think it looks
bad. I just think "why, god, why wouldn't you make them use solid hardwood?"

I worked in that world too for a bit (furniture finishing) and he probably wins points for me for the same reason he loses them for you haha.
I get that though, dovetails on ply are a bit odd when butt joints will hold just as well, but maple headshells wouldn't be fun to lug around and a lot of his amps are heavy enough as it is.

I like dovetail ply. Little bit trad, little bit Eames.

Face tattoos don't usually get you the kind of dough for fancy metal boxes of noise creation!
