I haven't played much in the last year since I stopped playing in a band. My "taking a break", turned into not playing at all.
Practice daily using YT videos and online resources to learn more about theory/scales/etc.......since I know next to nothing.
get my chops up beyond where they were previously. been on a serious plateau for years.
Work more on my lead skill....since I can't.....and never really had any interest in leads.
Play more in general with hopes to create music again.
7 notes in the major scale, 7 modes (also 7 notes)
1. Ionian (major)
2. Dorian
3. Phrygian
4. Lydian
5. Mixolydian
6. Aeolian (minor)
7. Locarian
All the notes are the same in each scale but the roots are different (i.e. the root of the Lydian mode is the 4th note of the Ionian (major) mode)
There's a start ...

Do you guys think making a list is a good idea?? I mean, my list still equals a lot of money, but I'm going to really, really try not to go crazy this year. I honestly can't afford it.

Coming up with a list of priority items will hopefully help avoid being distracted by new things that may come up in the meantime or buying things in an order that isn't beneficial...
...for instance in my case it wouldn't be wise to buy a pedalboard when I know there's a couple more pedals I want to buy that would affect space and order...or buying all that and then getting an amp with an EFX loop that would also cause me to change my whole setup

Lists are the shit. I make lists constantly. I have one for music gear I want to purchase, for cycling stuff I want to purchase, for books / movies / music I want to try, tasks I have to perform, stuff I've borrowed / lent. Lists everywhere. Lists.

bike stuff is what a good chunk of my money also goes towards. Luckily I think my 2 bikes are set for a while. I just got new forks on one of them and then had to switch some other components as a result of it...no different than music gear haha

Oh yeah I'm not sinking the kind of money that goes on music gear with bikes. It's all about maintaining my mid end single speed so expenditures are quite reasonable (brake pads, tires, tubes, lubricants, basic bicycle tools and accessories), but when purchasing that you need to keep a lot of parameters in time to get a part that fits. A part that fits. Not even one you like. Just one that is compatible. How could someone who isn't you or super specific about what you own and like (e.g. a bike nerd friend) could shop for you and get it right? I mean I get it wrong sometimes
But yeah, lying down in bed for most of the day because flu has its perks. Finally got around to finding some fat to trim on my setup (some was helped by Vidret's Moomindrone gift). And it looks like whenever all of that sells I can buy the JC-40. Also, Possessed should fit in the budget as well. So yeah, 2017 new gear is gonna be cool I think

I have 2 fully custom BMX bikes so not nearly as much as I spend on gear it's still a pretty hefty amount especially when learning preferences and compatible parts is basically all about trial and error. It's easier to try music gear before you buy it. That doesn't work with bikes!

I've narrowed down my pedal purchase goals:
Warped Vinyl
Count to 5
That's it.
