This is my current problem. I only played 7 hours straight yesterday!

So how's everyone getting on? I've got some fun noises going, trying to harangue music out of everything is a very interesting job! I like where my piece is going so far though. What a great idea this whole thing was.

When's our due date again? My schedule's gone total fuckall as of late, and looks to continue through next week.

May 7th. I can do that.

^^^ Adulting and work have been kicking me square in the dick repeatedly the past month or so. Having some equipment malfunctioning on top of all that. Samples aren't loading into my MPC so I am reworking how to go about constructing this track. May 7th is plenty of time though.

Yeah, same. For some reason I thought we'd set the deadline for this weekend or something and I wigged for a sec. May 7th's fine.

May 7th sounds great to me too.

May 7th works for me as well (although I may be traveling on that date).
Also, how is everyone finding the project? I haven't had a chance to dive into the samples yet myself, but I'd love to hear what those who have are thinking (I imagine there's something along the lines of "fuck me what am I to do")

So much yes to this. I'd love to hear the approaches y'all are taking.
I've been experimenting with some options... started messing around with AudioMulch and it's really rad. Also have been diving into Logic's native EXS24 sampler, which is not so bad. Also did some research and came across DiscoDSP's Bliss soft sampler... it looks pretty cool and is currently going for about 60 bucks until May 1st.
Really could use some inspiration via hearing others' plans.

I've been sketching out the skeleton in my head and will use the best samples that adjust it once I get my hands on it.

So far I just listened to the samples and picked a handful that made me think "hrmm what if I..." and then pulled them into Ableton to play around. Have some really nice textures happening, but nothing that seems to go anywhere as yet. Definitely sounds like me though!

From listening to them all I got a bit of a vibe in my head I wanted to aim for, then I've just been playing with samples individually, cutting them up and trying out vsts (lots of messing woth pitch) till I find sounds I think I can use for that vibe! Then I'm stitching them together in daw. I wanted to use the electribe but I got bored bouncing samples across. I plan to come back to it at some stage in the process though because it does stuff that I find tougher in a computer environment.

I'm planning the exact hardware setup first, i.e. the process of how the samples will be played/fed to things. I'm leaving how it will actually sound to improvisation and playing with all that stuff... And if what I get sounds like shit I'll think of something else, I guess

I initially liked the sound of sorting out the hardware then improvising, but my eagerness to get going meant I just started doing stuff in the daw. I realised I've got a boring weekend ahead though so I might figure that out and see what I can do!

One more bit of business:
I'm working on the description/copy for the album itself, so if you could email me whatever you want for the liner notes (beyond explaining the process, which I think should happen in this thread) like your name/project name, location, and (if so inclined) a link to your other projects/portfolio/whathaveyou that would be appreciated.
